Is Your Address your Abode?
1. Is Your Address your
Abode?
Gal 2:4
4 And that because of false brethren unawares
brought in, who came in privily to spy out our
liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they
might bring us into bondage:
Gal 1:4
4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might
deliver us from this present evil world,
according to the will of God and our Father:
(House of Bondage used 10 times in the O.T.-
Exod 13:3; 13:14; 20:2; Deut 5:6, 6:12, 8:14,
13:5, 13:10; Josh 24:17; Judg 6:8)
Two Abodes-
One is the house of bondage described as, “this
Present Evil World”.
The other is the- Household of Faith, described
as Grace.
2. Gal 6:10
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do
good unto all men, especially unto them who are
of the household of faith.
Gal 1:6
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him
that called you into the grace of Christ unto
another gospel:

‘Misery loves company’
Gal 2:4

Gal 1:6-7
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him
that called you into the grace of Christ unto another
gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that
trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
The Gospel ceases to be the Gospel when it is
perverted.
D. The Property Managers for the House
of Bondage are:
1. A Subtle Serpent
Gen 3:1
4. 1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast
of the field which the LORD God had made. And he
said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said,
a) Liberty Questioned
Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
b) Boundaries Ridiculed
Gen 3:5
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,
then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as
gods, knowing good and evil.
c) Imagination that exalth itself against
the knowledge of God
The serpent is preaching “godliness” (the end will
justify the means) become godly some way other
than scripture.
You get more by making your own rules.
2. A Sly Sorcerer
Sorcerer: power of the supernatural without God
Acts 13:6-12
5. 6 And when they had gone through the isle unto
Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false
prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: [bar
Jesus]
7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius
Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas
and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by
interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away
the deputy from the faith.
9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the
Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief,
thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all
righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the
right ways of the Lord?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon
thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for
a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist
and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to
lead him by the hand.
6. 12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done,
believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the
Lord.
a) False Prophet Act 13:6
One who delivers a message from the
supernatural
6 And when they had gone through the isle unto
Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false
prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
b) A Jew Act 13:6
Had claim to spiritual pedigree
6 And when they had gone through the isle unto
Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false
prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
Gal 1:14
14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many
my equals in mine own nation, being more
exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
7. c) Conman Act 13:8, 10
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by
interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn
away the deputy from the faith.
10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief,
thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all
righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the
right ways of the Lord? [mis-chief]
“…Pervert the right ways of the Lord?”
The way: is Jesus Christ and salvation by him
alone
The ways: are the things that holiness produces
Ps 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in
the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Ps 25:4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me
thy paths.
Luke 1:76 And thou, child, shalt be called the
prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before
the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
8. Rom 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the
wisdom and knowledge of God! how
unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways
past finding out!
1Cor 4:17 For this cause have I sent unto you
Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful
in the Lord, who shall bring you into
remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as
I teach every where in every church.
Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that
generation, and said, They do alway err in their
heart; and they have not known my ways.
Rev 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the
servant of God, and the song of the Lamb,
saying, Great and marvellous are thy works,
Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways,
thou King of saints.
False ways are things, coated in a thin veneer of
Christian liberty, but rotten to the core.
II. The Household of Faith
9. A. Grace from God Through the Law- Gal
2:19-20
Gal 2:19-20
19 For I through the law am dead to the law…
Doesn’t mean the law is dead, the man is; dead
men break no laws.
…that I might live unto God.
You are a puppet on a string v20
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet
not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I
now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of
God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
B. Gift to God Through the Flesh- Gal
2:20-21
Gal 2:21
10. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if
righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead
in vain.
I don’t fight the one pulling my string- v21
Gal 2:20
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet
not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I
now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son
of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
How does this flesh live by faith?
Rom 12:1
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies
of God, that ye present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service.
Conclusion:
What God does in our flesh.
Acts 24:25
11. 25 And as he reasoned of righteousness,
temperance, and judgment to come, Felix
trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time;
when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
Gal 5:22-24
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no
law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the
flesh with the affections and lusts.
2Pet 1:4-10
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and
precious promises: that by these ye might be
partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your
faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to
temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
12. 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to
brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they
make you that ye shall neither be barren nor
unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and
cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was
purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to
make your calling and election sure: for if ye do
these things, ye shall never fall:
The Little House on Hallelujah Street
There’s a house in grumblers alley,
where I lived some years ago,
And the walls were swiftly falling to decay,
and the yard was full of thistles,
and that ‘ol roof was rotted so,
that the storms beat in upon it night and day,
Then the Spirit came and told me,
of a wonderful abode,
13. where from wind and storm I’d find a safe retreat,
So the Savior sent his moving van,
and he took me up the road,
to the little house on Hallelujah Street.
I shall ‘ner forget the day,
that I moved from sin away,
and secured a change of address so complete.
Since that moment without fail,
I’ve been getting all my mail,
at my little house on hallelujah street.
Now the neighbors in the alley,
where I lived in years gone by,
they have never ceased their talking,
from that day
that I left them so abruptly,
without bidding them goodbye,
and from all the sin and shame,
I moved away.
14. Since that sack of sin is empty,
where I lived so many years,
no more they’ll hear,
the treading of my feet,
I’ve moved away forever,
from the sorrow and the tears,
to my little house on hallelujah street.
Now this house is nice an cozy
and its walls so warm and tight,
and the landlord doesn’t charge any rent,
there’s a garden in connection,
filled with flowers gay and bright,
where so many golden hours,
there I’ve spent.
Here the landscape is so lovely,
and the songbirds sing with glee,
and I’m never hungry,
for good things to eat,
and I’m never, never, lonely
for the Savior dines with me,
15. at my little house on hallelujah street.
Well I’ve just received a letter,
from the king up in glory land,
that he soon is coming after all his own,
he’ll roll down the avenue,
with retinue so grand,
picking up,
all the saved and blood washed all alone.
When I hear the wheels a rumbling,
and I hear the angel song,
and I see that God’s redemption
is complete.
I am sure he will stop and take me,
from the place I’ve lived so long,
at the little house on hallelujah street.
So I’m looking for the day,
when he’ll carry me away,
and I’ll make another move
that can’t be beat.
16. When I leave this earthly vail,
I’ll no longer get my mail,
at my little house on hallelujah street.
