This document summarizes how Erasmus MC uses XML to manage and standardize the presentation of scientific publications on department websites. The medical center has over 100 departments producing around 3000 publications per year. Previously, departments presented publications in various inconsistent ways with little linking to full texts. Now, departments annually gather publication data, import into EndNote and upload an XML file. The library maintains a central XSLT stylesheet. This allows departments to easily update pages and adds features like splitting pages by year or adding subject labels. Future plans include extracting the XML data into a database to generate automated researcher pages and import into the financial rewards system.
