2. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This subject deepens the learners understanding of the
elements and principles of organization in the arts in the various
forms of creative expressions through a series of applications:
1)creative works, and artistic endeavors for personal development;
2)advancement of cultural identity and of one-self;
3) promotion of cultural identity;
4)expansion of discipline

3. ELEMENTS OF ART
The Elements of Art are a commonly used
group of aspects of a work of art used in
teaching and analysis. Combined with the
Principles of Art.

4. IMPORTANCE
Knowing what the elements of art enables us to
(1)describe what an artist has done,
(2)analyze what is going on in a particular piece
(3)communicate our thoughts and findings
using a common language.

5. UNDERSTANDING THE PRINCIPLE
OF ART
The Principles of Art are the set of rules or
guidelines of visual art that are to be
considered when considering the impact of a
piece of artwork.
They are combined with the elements of art in
the production of art.
The principles are movement, unity, harmony,
variety, balance, emphasis, contrast,
proportion, and pattern.

6. The arts represent an outlet of
expression, that is usually influenced by
culture and which in turn helps to change
culture. As such, the arts are a physical
manifestation of the internal creative
impulse.
The arts are classified as seven:
architecture, visual arts (sculpture,
painting, etc.), literature (poetry, essay,
etc.), music, dance, drama/theater,
collectively known as performing arts and
film/cinema.
From prehistoric cave paintings to
modern day films, art serves as a vessel
for storytelling and conveying humankind's

7. 1. Fine Arts
art that is prized for purely for its aesthetics qualities; painting, sculpture
and architecture (3 Noble Art).
2. Decorative Arts
arts that are concerned with the design and decoration of objects that are
chiefly prized for their utility, rather than for their purely aesthetic; ceramics and
studio pottery, mosaic art, mobiles, tapestry, glass art (including stained glass),
and others.
3. Applied Arts
application of design and decoration to everyday objects to make them
aesthetically pleasing graphic design, fashion design, and interior design.

8. Forms of creative activity that are performed in front of an audience, such as drama,
music, and dance.
Music
An art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms
through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.
Drama/Theater
Drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance: a play performed
in a theatre, or on radio or television.
Theater is a collaborative form of fine art that uses live performers, typically actors
or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live
audience in a specific place, often a stage. The performers may communicate this
experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music,
and dance. Elements of art, such as painted scenery and stagecraft such as lighting
are used to enhance the physicality, presence and immediacy of the experience.

9. Dance
Dance (from Old French dancier) generally refers to human movement either used as a form of
expression or in a social, spiritual or performance setting. Dance' is also used to describe
methods of non-verbal communication between humans or animals (bee dance, mating dance),
motion in inanimate objects (the leaves danced in the wind), and certain music genres.
Choreography is the art of making dances, and the person who does this is called a
choreographer.
The definition of what is dance depends on society, and ranges from folk dance to codified,
virtuoso techniques such as ballet. In sports, rhythmic gymnastics, figure skating, ice dancing
and synchronized swimming are dance disciplines. Some martial arts have dance-like moves.

10. Literature is a group of works of art made up of words. Most are
written, but some are passed on by word of mouth.
Literature usually means works of poetry and prose that are especially
well written.
There are many different kinds of literature, such as poetry, plays, or
novels. They can also be put into groups through their language,
historical period, origin, genre, and subject.
The word literature comes from the Latin word "learning, writing,
grammar"

11. A film, also called a movie, motion picture, moving pícture,
theatrical film, or photoplay, is a series of still images that, when shown
on a screen, create the illusion of moving images.
The word "cinema", short for cinematography, is often used to refer
to filmmaking and the film industry, and to the art of filmmaking itself.
The contemporary definition of cinema is the art of simulating experiences
to communicate ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty or
atmosphere by the means of recorded or programmed moving images
along with other sensory stimulations.

12. The style of design and method of construction of buildings and other
physical structures.
Combines knowledge of art, science, technology and humanity.
The design activity of the architect, from the macro-level (urban
design, landscape architecture) to the micro-level (construction details
and furniture)
Architecture helps the man-made fit in harmony with the environment
while promoting health and well-being, enriching lives aesthetically and
spiritually, providing economic opportunities, and creating a legacy that
reflects and symbolizes culture and traditions.

Integrated arts practice refers to inter-disciplinary art, art research,
development, production, presentation, or artistic creation of work
that fully uses two or more art disciplines to create a work for a
specific audience.
