Justice

Social justice has been defined in different ways, but the definitions
usually include similar ideologies. As you study the concept of social
justice, you will come across some of the following ideas:
· Historical inequities that affect current injustices should be
corrected until the actual inequities no longer exist or have been
perceptively "negated.‖
· Wealth, power, and status should be redistributed for the good of
the individual, the community, and the society.
· It is the responsibility of the government (or those who hold
significant power) to ensure a basic quality of life for all its citizens.
From country to country social justice is defined in different ways, and
the definitions usually include ideologies as well as differences.
Research the definition of social justice in the United States using your
textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the
Internet. Select another country to examine its definition of social justice
in order to analyze the ideologies and similarities using the following
steps:
1. Analyze the ideologies.
2. Identify the similarities.
3. Using your reasoning skills, give supporting statements or
arguments that support your position(s) about the social justice.
Your comparing and contrasting must consider the following:
· Historical values and ideologies of the country
· Economic structure of the country
2. · Discrimination issues, if any exist
Develop a 2–3-page analysis of the definitions of social justice in the
U.S. and a country of your choice. Analyze the ideologies, identify their
similarities, and explain how these factors support your statements or
arguments about the social justice you've selected. Support your
explanations with a minimum of two scholarly sources in addition to the
course text and apply APA standards to citation of sources.

addresses.
Write an advocacy letter regarding the piece of legislation and your
support of or opposition to it.
The purpose of an advocacy letter is to support or oppose the legislation
that affects a social issue of concern to you. This letter is a way for
representatives to stay in touch with the constituents they represent. The
letter consists of a brief introduction identifying and addressing the
social issue of concern (through personal experience, if applicable), an

HUM 220 Module 4 Assignment 2 Single-Payer
Healthcare
For more classes visit
www.snaptutorial.com
The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) was
implemented primarily to provide access to health insurance for those
who would not otherwise be insured. The ACA is not designed as a
single-payer healthcare system although some of its architects as well as
its detractors see the ACA as steering the United States toward one.
Research the single-payer approach to healthcare delivery using your
textbook, the University online library resources, and the Internet.
In a 3–4-page paper, address the following:
· Define a single-payer system and identify a country where it is
used.
· Using demonstrated research findings, describe the strengths and
weaknesses of a single-payer healthcare system.
6. · Based on your current situation in terms of healthcare coverage
(insured by an employer, covered under a parent’s or spouse’s policy,
receiving government benefits, uninsured, etc.), explain how a single-
payer plan would affect how you receive healthcare. Do you favor a
single-payer approach? Why, or why not?
· If you were to design a single-payer system, explain how you
would address the challenges.
Write a 3–4-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to

HUM 220 Module 5 Assignment 1 LASA 2
Analyzing a Social Policy
For more classes visit
www.snaptutorial.com
In this course, you have learned that social policies are formulated to
solve social problems considered important by a mass of voters, media,
and political actors. Social policy is but one solution to the problem—
not necessarily the most rational, effective, or socially just. Social
policies are human creations and, as such, can be changed. In this paper
you will analyze a social policy as a tool for social justice.
Research one social welfare policy using your textbook, the University
online library resources, and the Internet.
Analyze the policy and address the following:
The social problem addressed by the policy
1. What is/are the problem/s to be solved in the most fundamental
terms?
2. What is the history of the problem/s in the United States?
7. 3. What are the various theories about the causes of the problem/s?
Based on this, what do you think is/are the most important causes/s of
the problem/s?
The policy objectives, value premises, expectation, and target
populations
1. Policy objectives—overt and covert objectives: What are the stated
objectives of the policy? In your judgment, what are the covert
objectives of the policy?
2. What are the values underlying the policy objectives? What values
are revealed by the overt and covert objectives?
3. What did the policymakers expect would be the result of the policy?
4. Target segments of the population at whom policy is aimed: Discuss
the direct target of the policy in terms of size and other demographic
characteristics. Who are the indirect targets of the policy?
Effects of the policy
1. Intended effects: What effects did the lawmakers intend?
2. Unintended effects: What effects did the lawmakers not foresee?
3. Distinguish between short-range (less than five years) and long-
range (over five years) effects of the policy.
Implications of the Policy
1. Changes in the distribution of material resources: Are there any
changes to the distribution of material resources, including income and
other tangible benefits, as a result of the policy for direct or indirect
target groups?
2. Changes in distribution of services, rights, and statuses: Are there
any changes in services, rights, or statuses as a result of the policy?
Alternative Policies
1. What alternative policy/policies would more effectively address the
social problem discussed in the policy analysis while advancing social
justice?
Write a 4–6-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to
citation of sources. Make sure to include research in addition to the
textbook from credible, scholarly sources. Use the following file naming
convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A1.doc.
