2. What is a
slidecast?

6. Go to www.slideshare.net
and sign up for a free account.

7. Open an account
on slideshare.net

12. Create your
presentation

14. I normally save my presentation as a
PDF first, then upload to slideshare.

15. Acrobat’s
“magic dust”

16. A presentation I did in Keynote and
saved as a PDF. File size = 7.5 Mb

18. Open presentation in Acrobat and
select Document/Reduce File Size
from the main menu.
Make compatible with later
versions of Acrobat to gain
larger reduction in file size. I
use 9.0 setting.

19. Save the file.You will get a
prompt to replace existing
file if you don’t rename the
reduced file.

20. This is a common warning:
“image masks not
downsampled.”
Just click OK and ignore.

21. After applying the “magic dust” in
Acrobat the file size = 2.6 Mb

22. Upload your
presentation
to slideshare

23. Click to
upload file

25. Select file to
upload

29. Record your voiceover
as an MP3 file

31. Preset tracks
Recording
controls

32. Select
appropriate
track
Hide windows
you don’t need.

33. GarageBand makes
it easy to record in
packets.

34. Export as
MP3

35. Save the file to your
folder. You should also
save the GarageBand
project for future
editing purposes.

36. Upload MP3 file
to Slideshare

40. Select this tab
in window
Prompt to
load MP3 file

41. Pick file and
click “open”

42. This may take
a while...

43. When upload
is finished you
will see this
message.

44. Slidecast is
pre-formatted
with your
audio file.

46. 1. Play audio to where 2. Click and drag
you want it to stop for “audio selector” to
first slide, then pause mark where the first
audio. slide ends on the
timeline.

47. 3. Click on next
slide to select it in
the “slide selector.”
4. Repeat steps 1 &
2 for second slide.

50. Repeat steps 1 & 2
for all the slides.

53. Always listen to your slidecast
to make sure it’s working
properly before sharing it with
your students.
