2. Courage Examples Of Leon From Leon’s Story In Chronicle Order Leon walked to school which was 4 miles away. It was dangerous, long, but he still went. Leon walked past the way the school bus came. The kids sometimes came out and beat them up, but Leon was courageous and went that way. Leon went to the movies. White kids sometimes threw things at him, and jumped him after the movie, but Leon still went to the movies which was courageous of him. Leon couldn’t drink Soda at certain places, but he still was courageous and tried to get that soda, even though he could have been hurt being seen trying to get the soda.
3. Courage Examples [continued] Leon had to hide in the woods if the Klansmen ever attacked, but Leon was courageous and never complained, but got ready and practiced hiding. Leon moved from the farm his family was sharecropping to Mr. Tompkins farm. It was courageous because it could’ve turned out terribly, they might not have made any money, but they still moved to the farm. Leon started keeping his own records of what everything cost. It was courageous to try, because it wasn’t tradition, and it used to be not really allowed. Leon still tried something new. Leon made the decision to march for rights. It was courageous because he could get really hurt, or killed. Leon tried to get past the police men and their dogs, and fire hoses. It was courageous because the dogs could bite you up, the police men could kill you, and the hoses could rip skin off you.
4. Blue Persistent Leon was very persistent because in the book, Leon wouldn’t give up marching. He’d sometimes get hurt, and it was scary, but he still kept at it and he never ever gave up. Leon shows this with actions, and a direct statement. “But we continued marching and carrying on as though it was the only thing to do, because we couldn’t turn back once we started.” Leon kept on trying, when he kept trying to get the soda he wasn’t allowed to drink, or kept going to the movies even if things were thrown at him, or if he kept marching for his rights. Leon was a very persistent person.
5. Red Courageous Leon is very courageous person the book. Leon is courageous because, first of all, he marches for his rights. Many awful things could happen to him, but he still does it instead of leaving it for others. It is really courageous what he did. Another example of when he was courageous was when he goes to school. He could get hurt by the kids on the bus, it’s a tiring, long, dangerous journey, but he still goes to school instead of skipping or taking a different route. Leon is shows many courageous actions in the book.
6. Red Determined Leon is very determined in this book. Leon tries to get the soda from the store. He was determined when doing that because he keeps trying getting sodas from there because he wasn’t allowed to have that soda so he wants it and thinks it tastes better because he isn’t allowed to have it. He’s allowed to buy the exact same soda on pushcarts but he gets them from stores he’s not allowed too.
