Human activities like deforestation, pollution from agrochemicals, and illegal hunting are threatening many plant and animal species with extinction. Deforestation destroys habitats, while pollution and hunting directly kill animals. As a result, populations of endangered species like pandas, tigers, orangutans, leatherback turtles, and hornbills have declined drastically. The Malaysian government is working to protect threatened species by designating conservation areas, breeding programs in zoos, strengthening legal protections, and increasing environmental education.
2. Human activities such as logging and
construction change our surrondings.
Changes in sorroundings may cause
enviromental destruction and affect the
survival of species.
Some species may endangered or even
become extinct.
3. The phenomenon when a certain animal
species become rare to find and cease to
exist is called extinction.
Many animals were history as they are
permanently disappear in the world.
4.
5. Today, many animals are becoming rare
because their number is getting fewer.
If these animals continue decrease in
number, they will eventually become
extinct. We call such animals
endangered species.
8. Beside animals, many plants are also
facing the threat of extinction. Others
have become rare and endangered.
Some examples ofendangered plants are
timber species, the mangrove species, the
black pitcher plant and some species of
orchids.
11. Deforestation
Agrochemical
Illegal hunting
Killing or poaching of animals
12. Humans clear the forest and cut the hills
to build homes and other develpoment
projects such as factories, highways and
farming. The enviroment is being
changed to suit human needs.
When this happens, plants and animals
that shelter the animals are being
destroyed.
13.
14. Humans pollute the enviromnt by
releasing toxic gases and substances such
as lead, carbon monoxide, sulphur
dioxide and nitrogen dioxide into the air.
The widespread use of agrochemical in
agricultral sectors pollute the soil and
water.
These pollutions kill many animals.
15.
16. Excessive and illegal hunting or
poaching of animals for their meat, skin
and fur, horns and other animal products
also contribute to the decline in the
number of certain species.
17.
18. Malaysia government has designated
conservtion area where plants and animls are
protected in their natural habitats.
Keeping and breeding the protecting animals
species in capacity in the zoo.
Implement tighter legislation regarding the
protection of plant and animal species.
Educating the public and enhancing
awareness of the importance of preservation
and conservation.
