- Our central city – Which we define as from Green point to salt river is doing well. In fact compared to other Cities such as Johannesburg and Durban we seem to be doing better. In the last 3 to 4 years : Retail has taken off, we experienced a property boom, city is clean, safe, vibrant and diverse. However we cannot take this growth for granted that this will always be the case. We need a 10year strategy and action plan that will : Inspire and capture the public’s imagination Mobilize stakeholders around a shared vision Generate a measurable action plan for implementation and focus the minds of both out public and private partners over the next 10 years It is on this basis that CTP together with the CoCT initiated the Central City Development strategy (CCDS) in August last year.
