Berman, Elaine. Academic Statistics of Music Students vs. Student Population. Raw data. Upper Merion Area High School Guidance Department, King of Prussia, PA. This is a compilation of statistics

collected and maintained by our own guidance department. The data can be presented in a way that allows for conclusions to be made about the implications of music education. This information

will have a stronger effect in the presentation because it connects to the audience on a personal level (they are part of the data). This is expected to be the most striking element of the sideshow.

Blades, James. Percussion Instruments and Their History. New York: Frederick A. Praeger, 1971. Print. James Blades was an internationally recognized British percussionist. He's regarded as one of the

most distinguished in western music. The book is a standard reference book in the percussion world and continues to be a valuable contribution to music since its production in 1971. It not only

explains common techniques of several percussion instruments, but provides an explanation on why the techniques work with the instrument that include information about the history and

Conrad, David. "American Music Education: A Struggle for Time and Curriculum." Phi Kappa Phi Forum 86.4 (2006): 31. MAS Ultra - School Edition. EBSCO. Web. 19 Mar. 2011.; The article discusses

the struggles of U.S. music education related to time and curriculum. Reports revealed that when the No Child Left Behind was established in 2001, the schools lessened the time available for

music and arts education. The conflict on whether music education should be performance-based or understanding-based is also elaborated. Efforts in bridging the gap between musical

understanding and musical performance like comprehensive musicianship training programs are discussed in detail.
