The PhD proposal concerns the application/development of Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) methodologies to the study of homogeneous catalysis processes, and in addition, the experimental evaluation of catalysts. The project will be carried out in the Quantum Chemistry group of the URV (http://www.quimica.urv.es/%7Ew3qf/), and codirected from the experimental side by Dr. Elena Fernández (http://argo.urv.es/tecat/). The position will be filled through a 3 years contract. The post will be financed by the University, which requires applicants to have completed their Master deg. The starting time is not currently fixed, but it will be around January 2014. Tarragona is a beautiful city of 115,000 inhabitants in the Mediterranean coast of Catalonia, 100 kilometers south of the major city of Barcelona. Tarragona is a city of long history, and is close to modern major tourist resorts. Prospect candidates should have a background in computational chemistry, programming skills, good knowledge of English, open-mind attitude to multidisciplinary projects, and enthusiasm for research.
