HISTORY
7. FABRICATION SECTION IN INDUSTRY
Cutting:
1. Gas Cutting
2. By Cut-Off-Machine
Bending:
1. Plate Bending
2. Pipe Bending
Welding:
1. ARC Welding
2. TIG Welding
Grinding:
8. CUTTING:
1. Gas Cutting: The preheating is done by oxy-acetylene gas flame,
which is supplied from surrounding openings of the cutting torch.
When this temperature is attained, a jet of high pressure oxygen
from a central opening of the cutting torch is directed on the red hot
metal.
2. By Cut-Off-Machine: An abrasive saw, also known as a cut-off
saw or chop saw, is a circular saw which is typically used to cut hard
material, such as metals, tile, and concrete. The cutting action is performed
by an abrasive disc, similar to a thin grinding wheel. Technically speaking
this is not a saw, as it does not use regularly shaped edges (teeth) for
cutting.
9. BENDING:
1. Plate Bending: The forces applied on a plate are
perpendicular to the plane of the plate. Therefore, plate
resists the applied load by means of bending in two
directions and twisting moment.
2. Pipe Bending: Standard bending processes
employs a range of tools and techniques, from
mandrels that bend tubing as it is formed to
triangulated rolling devices that work upon
preformed pipes and tubes.
10. WELDING:
1. ARC Welding: In arc welding, the intense heat needed to melt metal is
produced by an electric arc. The arc is formed between the actual work
and an electrode (stick or wire) that is manually or mechanically guided
along the joint.
2. TIG Welding: In the TIG welding process the arc is formed between a
pointed tungsten electrode and the work piece in an inert atmosphere of
argon or helium. The small intense arc provided by the pointed electrode is
ideal for high quality and precision welding.
11. GRINDING:
Grinding is used to finish work pieces that must show high
surface quality and high accuracy of shape and dimension. It has
some roughing applications in which grinding removes high
volumes of metal very rapidly.
13. 1) Inside Micrometre:
■ Standard single rod type inside micrometre.
■ Carbide measuring faces.
■ The sleeve is rotated to adjust the index line position when setting
to a length standard.
■ Setting ring (nominal size below 300mm), CERA Inside Micro
Checker, and Gauge Block accessory set are provided as a
reference gage for datum adjustment (refer to page C-47, C-26, and
E-17 - E20 for details)
■ Limit: 100 – 2000mm

14. 2) Vernier Caliper:
■ Measuring Range (mm): 0-450 mm
■ Resolution (mm): 0.02 mm
■ Measuring Range (Inch): 0-18 Inch
■ Resolution (Inch): 0.001 Inch
■ Lower Jaw Length (mm): 100 mm
■ Material: Satin Chrome Finish
■ Overall Length (mm): 630 mm
■ Accuracy: ? 0.05 mm

25. ■ Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses whether or not
you’re operating a machine. Otherwise, chips and other debris
from co-worker’s machines could fly into your eyes.
1. Safety Goggles:
■ Wear safety gloves every time you have to work with hazardous
chemicals and objects with sharp points or edges. The same is true when
you’re exposed to such hazards as skin abrasions, excessively high or low
temperature, electrical shock, and vibration.
2. Protective Gloves:
26. 3. Respirators:
■ Employers must provide employees with respirators that comply with
OSHA regulations. This is only after evaluating the feasibility of
installing engineering controls like fume hoods or general ventilation
systems.
4. Pay Attention:
■ Never leave machines unattended. While operating the machine, listen to
it carefully. If something does not sound right, immediately turn it off and
thoroughly inspect it for problems.
27. 5. Good Housekeeping:
■ Always clean up a machine after you’re done using it. Besides being
uncomfortable to use, a dirty machine can result to injury. Never use
compressed air to blow machines clean. This can cause flying particle
hazards and may force dirt into machine bearings.
28. SPECIAL EXPERIENCES IN INDUSTRY
■ Mainly hole and shaft assembly is required in industry. In screw motor and gear box is assemble.
Sometimes diameter of shaft is greater than hole. This time by uses the polish paper reduces the
thickness of shaft and assembly of hole and shaft is take place.
■ The company normally have problem of light. Most at time the switch off their generator even if
they have many customers at hand and most of the machine cannot function without light.
■ I was not allowed to run some machines because it was quite difficult to operate. So I could not get
the experience of some machines out there.
