Asthma And Why My Doctors An Idiot!
1. Asthma and Why My Doctor's an Idiot!
I have to admit that over the last 2 weeks my asthma has not been
great - and neither has my doctor!
As a child, I suffered from really bad asthma and depended on steroid-
based inhalers to breathe. Thankfully, I outgrew my breathing
difficulties.
However, over the last 2 weeks I've had to depend on my puffer at
least twice per day and just this past weekend it was so bad that I
using my inhaler at least 10 times a day! Part of the problem was that
I was visiting my girlfriend's parents and for some reason their house
just seized up my airways.
So I went to a walk-in clinic the other day to get a new prescription for
an inhaler - since mine was nearly done - and was blown away by the
nonsense coming out of my doctor' s mouth!
She was young so I thought she might be a little bit more with it - but
no way Jose!
I asked her if there was a natural approach to treating asthma (for
which I already knew the answer was YES) only to here her reply "Oh,
no way! You definitely need a steroid inhaler."
Great, just what I wanted to hear. As reluctant as I am about using
pharmaceuticals I realized that I DID need this inhaler. But I couldn't
believe that she continued by giving me the same old medical doctor
BS in saying...
"Well, there are absolutely no studies that show that natural anti-
inflammatories or anti-histamines work at all for asthmatics!"
2. And here I thought that she might be a little more progressive but
apparently they're still regurgitating the same old 'drugs are the
solution' teachings at most medical schools.
Truth be told, most readers of this blog will learn more about nutrition
and natural healing than doctors receive during their schooling.
So for anyone who suffers from asthma try the following natural
remedies (resort to steroid-based inhalers if you must - not being able
to breathe is not a funny thing):
1. Fish oil - high source of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids.
2. Spirulina - another great source of omega-3 and beneficial GLA
(gamma linoleic acid) and vitamin A which helps protect mucus
membranes.
3. Vitamin C - antioxidant and helps maintain the integrity of the
lining of the airways.
4. Probiotics and digestive enzymes - many asthma attacks can be
caused by improper digestion and an imbalance in the gut flora.
Ensuring optimal digestion (especially protein digestion) and
repopulating the gut with healthy bacteria is essntial.
Have you suffered in traumatic asthma-related events? What did you
do?
