Interventions
Placement of FET College Graduates 2013
SAGDA has answered the call by Minister of Higher Education and Training,
Dr. Nzimande to turn every work place into a training space.
Since May 2013, all FET Colleges have been assigned a free membership.
Placement of graduates with stipends for all FET Colleges to strengthen
capacity within the SSS and provide work exposure to College Graduates
through TETA and CHIETA funding.
SAGDA seek to have office presence in all 9 provinces within FET Colleges.

About SAGDA:
SAGDA has been at the forefront
of graduate development for the
past 14 years and has helped over
200 000 students/graduates
through job readiness
programmes.
In November 2010, we launched a
new organizational strategy and

navigate the graduate
empowerment trajectory through

rural and remote areas and

- A strategic approach to boost professional capacity of NGOs by
placing trained unemployed graduates to provide professional

  • 7. Placement of FET College Graduates 2013 SAGDA has answered the call by Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr. Nzimande to turn every work place into a training space. Since May 2013, all FET Colleges have been assigned a free membership. Placement of graduates with stipends for all FET Colleges to strengthen capacity within the SSS and provide work exposure to College Graduates through TETA and CHIETA funding. SAGDA seek to have office presence in all 9 provinces within FET Colleges.

Partnership with government NSDS 3 IMPLEMENTING PARTNER - Funding through the SETAs - Opened a channel for sustainable partnerships - So far 1800 graduates placed in 2012 - merSETA, ETDP SETA, AGRI SETA, MICT SETA, TETA, SASSETA, SERVICE SETA. MoU TO REDUCE AND PREVENT GRADUATE UNEMPLOYMENT - Response to the Minister’s call - Signed a contract of R54 million a year from 2012- 2016 to place 1000 graduates a year - Placement of unemployed graduates and students into internships - Huge multiplier effect to private companies. NATIONAL INTERNSHIP RSEARCH - NYDA - Invested R500 000 towards a national Internship Research - Partnership with merSETA and ETDP SETA to fund a R1 7 million worth of a research - Provide best practices in internship implementation.

Workplace Skills Challenge - 40 unemployed graduates - R3500 per graduate per month - Service SETA top up to 68 graduates - 25 graduates full time employed. Departmental Turn Around Strategy - Talent pipeline - 64 + 39 graduates started in Feb 2013 earning R6 000 per month - Tender condition for graduate absorption - KPMG pay the stipend - TETA & Nedbank top up to pay R10 000 per graduate

Partnership with BUSA and private companies Long Term Partner - Housed SAGDA offices for 13 years - A corporate member - Invested a R1 million to top up DPW Internship - Will provide corporate experience to graduates and mentorship Skills & Youth Accord Partner - Integrated approach to offer placement to 7 000 FET college and university students - Use SAGDA database as a conduit to fill vacancies; Tender Recipient - Absorption of 64 graduates for work exposure programme; - Each graduate receive R6000 per month - SAGDA membership - Channel for sustainable practice

Partnership with SANGOCO Partnership to Build Capacity and Professionalize the NGO/CBO/NPOs - MoU signed today to place unemployed graduates and WIL students in the NPO/CBO/NGOs to boost capacity and provide work exposure to graduates; - Serve as a conduit to increase leadership/ICT and Management competences of owners or executives - An opportunity to grow the services offered by NGOs - Needs of the sector are clear, shortage of skilled and competent staff in scarce and critical skills such as accounting, IT, HR, Marketing, etc.

Partnership with the NLB MoU signed on July 12, 2013 to boost employment through funded programmes - NLB has plaedged to contribute largely towards job creation and youth employment; - A strategic approach to boost professional capacity of NGOs by placing trained unemployed graduates to provide professional services.
