2. Meaning of education
1. Education is the process of bringing
desirable changes into the behavior of
human beings.
2. It can also be defined as the “Process of
imparting or acquiring knowledge or habits
through instruction or study”.
3. The behavioral changes must be directed
towards a desirable end.
4. They should be acceptable socially,
culturally and Comically and result in a
change in knowledge, skill, attitude and
understanding.
5. Informal Education
Informal Education is :
1. Life long process.
2. Individual learns from daily
experiences.
3. Individual learns from exposure
to the environment at home, at
work, at play etc.
9. Non Formal Education
Non Formal Education is:
1. Flexible.
2. Life, environment and learner oriented.
3. Diversified in content and method.
4. Built on learner participation.
5. It mobilizes local resources.
6. It enriches human and environmental
potential.

Non formal

that takes place outside
the formal

Usually it is flexible,
learner-centered,
contextualized and
uses a participatory
approach. There is no
specific target group for
NFE; it could be kids,
youth or adults.
