 ““If you do not know (someone), how can you then claim to loveIf you do not know (someone), how can you then claim to love

““Every (knowledge), for which an obligationEvery (knowledge), for which an obligation

yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concernedyourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned

 Traditionally, narrations of the Prophet’s life are frequently taught,Traditionally, narrations of the Prophet’s life are frequently taught,
recited, composed, memorised, remembered and appreciated.recited, composed, memorised, remembered and appreciated.
 Yet, our approach to studyingYet, our approach to studying SeerahSeerah must be to becomemust be to become
intimately acquainted with the nobility; the stature; theintimately acquainted with the nobility; the stature; the
outstanding and exalted character (outstanding and exalted character (AkhlaqAkhlaq -disposition); the-disposition); the
sacrifices through trials and tribulations; his concern; his legacysacrifices through trials and tribulations; his concern; his legacy

 So how much do we know about him?So how much do we know about him?
 Are we aware of how concerned Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. WasAre we aware of how concerned Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Was
towards all people, that they be saved from the torments of hell-towards all people, that they be saved from the torments of hell-
fire?fire?
 Allah said: “Allah said: “it grieves him that ye should perish: ardently anxious isit grieves him that ye should perish: ardently anxious is

over you: to the Believers is he most kind and mercifulover you: to the Believers is he most kind and merciful.”.”
 Who do you think are the “Who do you think are the “UmmahUmmah ” of our Prophet Muhammad” of our Prophet Muhammad

 Do we not realise that Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is certainly theDo we not realise that Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. is certainly the

approach do we benefit from or have we ever appreciated?approach do we benefit from or have we ever appreciated?

““[And as for thee,] O Prophet - behold, We have sent thee as[And as for thee,] O Prophet - behold, We have sent thee as
a witness [to the truth],a witness [to the truth], and as aand as a herald of glad tidingsherald of glad tidings and aand a
warner,warner, and asand as one who summons [all men] to Allah by Hisone who summons [all men] to Allah by His
leaveleave, and as a, and as a light-giving beaconlight-giving beacon.”.”

“And [so,] convey to the believers the glad tiding that a great bounty
from Allah awaits them; and defer not to [the likes and dislikes of] the
deniers of the truth and the hypocrites, and disregard their hurtful talk,
and place thy trust in Allah: for none is as worthy of trust as Allah.”

““ For, verily, Allah is with those who are conscious of Him (For, verily, Allah is with those who are conscious of Him (TAQWATAQWA))

His Du’a for those who rejectHis Du’a for those who reject

Major milestones in the Seerah:

"Oh, my Allah! To Thee I raise my hand to complain of the
feebleness of my strength, of my lack of resources and of my being
unimportant in the eyes of people.
Oh, Most Merciful of all those capable of showing mercy! You are
the Robb ( Lord, Sustainer, Cherisher) of the weak, and You are my
own Robb ( Lord , Sustainer, Cherisher). TLord , Sustainer, Cherisher). To whom are You going to
entrust me to? To an unsympathetic folk who would sullenly frown
at me, or to an alien to whom Thou hast given control over my
affairs?

Not in the least do I care for anything except that I may have Thy
protection for myself.
I seek shelter in Your light - The light that illuminates the Heavens
and dispels all sorts of darkness, and which controls all affairs in this
world as well as in the Hereafter.
May it never be that I should incur Thy wrath, or that You should
be displeased with me. I must remove the cause of Thy displeasure
until You are pleased. There is no strength nor power but through
Thee."

DA’WAH TO TA’IFDA’WAH TO TA’IF

““No (don’t destroy them) ! But my hope is that AllahNo (don’t destroy them) ! But my hope is that Allah
will bring forth from their descendents, people whowill bring forth from their descendents, people who
worship Allah Alone, and do not set up partnersworship Allah Alone, and do not set up partners
(i.e. commit shirk) to Him. ”(i.e. commit shirk) to Him. ”

““Certainly did Allah confer [great] favour upon theCertainly did Allah confer [great] favour upon the

“ and [to cause this message to spread] from them unto other
people as soon as they come into contact with them: for He
alone is almighty, truly wise! Such is Allah's bounty: He grants
it to anyone who is willing [to receive it]: for Allah is limitless
in His great bounty.“

THE PROPHET S.A.A.W. SAID:

““The likeness of me and the other Prophets is similar to thatThe likeness of me and the other Prophets is similar to that
of a man who built a house and perfectly decorated it exceptof a man who built a house and perfectly decorated it except
for a space of one brick. The people used to go round thisfor a space of one brick. The people used to go round this
house, wonder and say, ‘If only this missing brick were puthouse, wonder and say, ‘If only this missing brick were put
in!’in!’
Thus, I am that brick and I am the Last of the Prophets.”Thus, I am that brick and I am the Last of the Prophets.”

THE PROPHET S.A.A.W. SAID:

““And thus have We willed you to be a community of the middle wayAnd thus have We willed you to be a community of the middle way
((UMMATAN WASOTANUMMATAN WASOTAN) [i.e. justly balanced], so that [with your lives]) [i.e. justly balanced], so that [with your lives]
you might bear witness to the truth before all mankind (you might bear witness to the truth before all mankind (SHUHADAA-SHUHADAA-
A - ‘ALAN-NAASA - ‘ALAN-NAAS) , and the Messenger as a witness over you.“) , and the Messenger as a witness over you.“

“Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and
those of knowledge - [that He is] maintaining [creation] in justice (BIL-QISTw).
There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.“

““And say: "Work (righteousness): soon will Allah observe your work, andAnd say: "Work (righteousness): soon will Allah observe your work, and

“Say [O Prophet]: "I am but a mortal man like all of you. It has been
revealed unto me that your God is the One and Only God. Hence, whoever
looks forward [with hope and awe] to meeting his Sustainer [on Judgment
Day], let him do righteous deeds, and let him not ascribe unto anyone or
anything a share in the worship due to his Sustainer!“
(Qur’an: Kahfi: 18: 110)

 How have we regarded our life? In fact many have becomeHow have we regarded our life? In fact many have become
‘‘enslavedenslaved’ (by others) without them realizing it. Whereas we are’ (by others) without them realizing it. Whereas we are
supposed to be the slave of Allah s.w.t.supposed to be the slave of Allah s.w.t.
 We say we are Muslims, yet what do we mean by “We say we are Muslims, yet what do we mean by “I bearI bear
witnesswitness ..”? Being a witness to what? Towards whom?..”? Being a witness to what? Towards whom?
 And how do we effectively become truly a witness? Have we reallyAnd how do we effectively become truly a witness? Have we really
been one? Or are we promoting other ‘been one? Or are we promoting other ‘brandsbrands ’ instead?’ instead?
 Other ‘models’ are being introduced by people, while the MuslimsOther ‘models’ are being introduced by people, while the Muslims
simply are complacent about making others to know about oursimply are complacent about making others to know about our
Prophet s.a.w. who was sent for them too.Prophet s.a.w. who was sent for them too.

 We should be talking to others about him; express appreciation byWe should be talking to others about him; express appreciation by
mentioning him and his contributions towards betterment of mankind;mentioning him and his contributions towards betterment of mankind;
his nobility, amazing miracles, prophecies about him and otherhis nobility, amazing miracles, prophecies about him and other
outstanding characteristics; his love and concern for every humanity;outstanding characteristics; his love and concern for every humanity;
etc. – just so that those who do not know him may become interestedetc. – just so that those who do not know him may become interested
to want to know.to want to know.
 Yes, striving to being a true and sincere Muslim is to belong to thoseYes, striving to being a true and sincere Muslim is to belong to those
who will be put to trials and tribulations ... “who will be put to trials and tribulations ... “even though theeven though the
unbelievers detest itunbelievers detest it..””

““Among the believers are men who have [always] been true to whatAmong the believers are men who have [always] been true to what
they have vowed before Allah: Of them some have fulfilled theirthey have vowed before Allah: Of them some have fulfilled their
obligations (with their lives), and some of them are still waiting (for itsobligations (with their lives), and some of them are still waiting (for its
fulfillment) without having changed [their resolve] in the least.”fulfillment) without having changed [their resolve] in the least.”

““Indeed, Allah confers blessing (salutations) upon theIndeed, Allah confers blessing (salutations) upon the

ask Allah to confer blessing upon him [worthy of hisask Allah to confer blessing upon him [worthy of his

 Amongst the commandments of Allah s.w.t. in the Qur’an, “givingAmongst the commandments of Allah s.w.t. in the Qur’an, “giving

 We do not claim to fully know the wisdom and benefit of it, butWe do not claim to fully know the wisdom and benefit of it, but
certainly this invoking Allah’s blessing upon Prophet Muhammadcertainly this invoking Allah’s blessing upon Prophet Muhammad
s.a.w. has considerable benefits for us when Allah commands us.s.a.w. has considerable benefits for us when Allah commands us.
 And there are manyAnd there are many AhadithAhadith regarding it’s benefits (regarding it’s benefits (Fadhaa-ilFadhaa-il).).

 Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. said:Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. said:
““Say the ‘Say the ‘SolawatSolawat’ (invocation of Allah’s blessing for me as’ (invocation of Allah’s blessing for me as
Allah commands) for your ‘Allah commands) for your ‘SolawatSolawat’ shall be’ shall be
ZakahZakah (a purification and spiritual growth)(a purification and spiritual growth)
for your own selves.”for your own selves.”

““Whoever, whenever my name is mentioned in his presence, yet do notWhoever, whenever my name is mentioned in his presence, yet do not

“O Allah, make my speech be guidance, inspire me with
reverential fear, give me success in that which is most
pure, and employ me in what is most pleasing to Thee!
O Allah, let me tread the most exemplary path and make
me live and die in Thy creed!
O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household, give me to
enjoy moderation, make me into one of the people of
right behaviour, the proofs of right conduct, and the
servants of righteousness,"

“O Allah! Grant favours in our hearing, in our sight and in our strength to be
always upon Your Path. And make our yearnings and desires to be in accord
with everything (teachings and guidance) which has ben brought by Your
beloved Muhammad - salutations of Allah and peace be upon him.”
