4. Objectives and Sources
Objective: Our aim is to analyse the world of Formula 1 drivers and its
relationship with social media and their fans who closely follow their
favorite teams and drivers. In our research we have compiled the best
F1 news online, from major sources specializing in the motorsports
world, combined with information collected from Facebook, Twitter,
YouTube videos and other social networks involving the teams, drivers
and racing fans.

On Twitter he says he likes putting himself through pain in triathlons
and that he loves his cat. He talks about his trips and he uses hashtags
and he mentions his friends and followers.

Nico Rosberg with a score of 60 is ranked in the 4th position on social networks
and on the 7th position of the F1 drivers classification. On Twitter, he responds
to the questions from his followers. In YouTube, he publishes videos with short
messages of his career and experiences with other drivers on each Grand Prix.
On Facebook, he posts videos and pictures of the circuits where he has been.
Heikki Kovalainen with an Alianzo score of 53 occupies the 5th position on
social media. On Facebook (220,000 fans) he uses apps for building loyalty
among young audiences. He is also present on Twitter and YouTube.
Mexican Sergio Perez from Mclaren is placed in the 15th position of the F1
world ranking, while on social networks' ranking he occupies the 6th place with
the score of 53. He is present on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and on a news
blog.
Jean-Eric Vergne with a score of 49 occupies the 7th place on social media,
while in the world ranking of F1 he is placed on the 16th position. On Twitter
(+37,000 followers) he has limited activity but he uses hashtags and shares
photos in his tweets. On Facebook (+36,000 fans) he uses apps to share news
and pictures with his fans. On YouTube, he publishes videos about his Scuderia
Toro Rosso. He is the unique F1 driver that is present on Pinterest.

Felipe Massa, brazilian driver, has a score of 46 on Alianzo and occupies the 8th
place on social media, while in the world ranking of F1 he is placed on the 5th
position. On Twitter (+257,000 followers) he tweets his personal daily life and he
responds his followers . On Facebook (+14,000 fans) he posts videos and
pictures of the circuits where he has been and of the cars he uses.
Vitaly Petrov from Caterham F1, has a score of 46 on social media. On Twitter
(+111,000 followers) he writes in English and Russian, sharing photos through
Instagram. On Facebook (+5,000 fans) he show videos and he provides apps for
events. He has featured Playlists on Youtube about Caterham F1 Team.
Mark Webber with a score of 45 is on 10th place on social media. On Facebook
(+104,000 fans) he shares photos of pilots' helmets. He is also on Twitter and he
has a blog.

20. Conclusions
If there is a pilot in F1 who is regular on Twitter that's Lewis Hamilton,
followed by Fernando Alonso. Both drivers speak about their private lifes
and their girlfriends, they post messages and pictures that express how
they feel, where they spend their holidays, what they are eating or which
are their favorite songs. They have produced many disappointments to
their fans and teams, as Hamilton and Button breaking up on Twitter
despite being mates on the same team. Hamilton discovered that Button
had never followed him on Twitter.
Even if it has been difficult to find the official accounts of the 25th pilots,
we have discovered that few pilots have accounts on social networks and
they mostly use Facebook or Twitter to communicate with fans. They
also use videoblogs as a way to tell their experiences in the
championships.

21. Conclusions
Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull Racing Team, despite being the world
leader in the drivers' championship, he is not very active on social
networks, he has a score of 32 in the global ranking of Formula 1 drivers.
Fernando Alonso earns 30 million euros per season, followed by
Hamilton and Button, both from McLaren team, with 16 million euros.
Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber from Red Bull Racing team follow
them with 10 million euros per season.
It is interesting that the highest paid driver from Mercedes is Nico
Rosberg, ahead of sevenfold champion Michael Schumacher.
Jean-Eric Vergne is the unique F1 driver that is present on Pinterest.
Fernando Alonso, Hamilton and Vergne are the only ones who use
Instagram to post photos of their private lifes.
Hamilton and Button are the only ones who use Google +.
