Film program alum Bruce B. Gordon directed, wrote and produced Whole
‘Nother Level, which was recently selected to participate at the 2013
Cannes Court Métrage (Short Film Corner), part of the Cannes Film
Festival in France. George Ohan, a film alum, Veteran, and current military
admissions rep, was the producer on the film. The full list of students/grads
from the Los Angeles Film School and The Los Angeles Recording School
are as follows: Bruce B. Gordon, George Ohan, Ibrahim Adekeye
(executive producer), Quoizel Williams (associate producer), Ashlee Hodor
(associate producer), Melle Hartley, James Souter, Victor
Pukhalsky, Chase Ferrell, Naqash Gul, Saroop Gul, Ronald Cox, Javier
Ante, David Condrey, Trevor McGuar, Patrick Patenge, Jesse Jennings

The Cannes Court Métrage label is a distinction that reinforces the
professional potential of the short film concerned and its distribution to an
international audience of professionals. Those invited to the annual Short
Film Corner are able to showcase their film at an expo-like hall in which
they can network and pitch to film financiers, distribution companies and
other film industry specialists.
Whole ‘Nother Level is about a cerebral palsy-stricken young man who is
living with his elderly, chronically-ill parents, and must pass a motor skills
test to escape being sent away to live in a home for disabled adults.
Bruce explains where the inspiration for the short comes from:
“I was inspired by my wife’s work as a school psychologist, testing
special-needs students in order to help provide them with the free
and appropriate education guaranteed by law.
I was also inspired by a few disabled guys who live in my building,
who live independently, go to school and work jobs (with the help of
government agency workers who monitor their progress and
2. safety).”
Congrats on all your hard work paying off!
