Objective
I'm ideally looking for a position where my eighteen years of experience
in the capacity of a Lev 3 IRATA safety supervisor would be put to its
fullest potential. This could be either with a multi skilled team of
technicians as I am familiar with most if not all working at heights
trades, where work opportunities and clients solutions to problems
could be addressed with maximum efficiency or for initial job analysis /
set up and management position.

I started out with RBG / Stork back in 1996 in the capacity of IRATA Lev 1 blaster and painter
where I was lucky enough to be picked and trained by some of the best experienced industrial
painters working on the ropes at that time. My enthusiasm and keenness to learn combined with
a good work ethic meant that I was picked time and again for various work scopes within this field
of operations and concurrently I shot straight through my IRATA levels consecutively. My first role
as a level 3 was a mechanical prep and paint of a water storage leg offshore with only one entry
and exit point, a highly explosive atmosphere where all karabiners were taped, anything that
could cause a spark during the painting phase was removed and utilizing breathing apparatus,
throat mikes and escape sets etc. By this time I had also worked for other companies (EM&I) and
held a PCN 2 thickness Gaging ticket and had worked in a lot of confined space / intrinsically

dangerous environments predominantly FPSO cargo tanks so was ideally suited for this first start
as the Level 3 safety supervisor. My latest job with Stork was a complete fire and gas three year
safety system renewal and although I don’t have the electrical Compex ticket I am ideally suited
for working with electricians as I became a ‘uni-strut’ cable tray expert which as any electrician
will tell you is the meat of the work, predominantly the at heights bit too.

First started out with EM&I again at grass roots level having done some introductory courses at T
P O'Neils in Rotherham in MPI, Penetrant ink inspection and later having pushed a lot of probes
subsequently gained my PCN 2 thickness plate and pipe inspection ticket. This ticket landed me
in a lot of FPSO cargo tanks as previously mentioned and as apart from giving me a good
understanding of the workings of NDT / analysis of faults i.e. the best method and subsequent
method / protective coating but confined space and awareness of intrinsically dangerous
locations was always a constant consideration. Whilst with this company I was learning more
blasting and painting techniques like slurry, hydro and water jet blasting and worked extensively
in China where I was well received by all the Chinese clients and technicians respectively.

The reason I've put three companies here is because as I go along I’m realizing how difficult it is
to convey such a complex career in such a small space, basically I did a lot of fabrication /
destruct / reinstate and modification projects with these three companies. I have worked
extensively in many different scenarios within the heavy lifting side of our industry and have to
say it's one of my particular favorites. Whilst working with Acergy I have been involved in many
heavy rigging subsea operations either on jay lay pipeline laying barges preparing, mounting and
fixing sea bed skid decks or just on rigging jobs working in tandem with the divers subsea.
Whilst working for SSI apart from the usual regular interim LOLOR surveys and pad eye
inspections / re certification I have also completed crown removal and reinstallation on one
occasion in Kazakhstan all the tuggers were condemned by the Mobil inspector so we had the
added complication of rigging to get the gene pole assembly on location at the top of the Derrick
which we duly achieved. I also taught my Level 3 OPITO rigger some not so well known
techniques for gaining a higher rigging point when only the sky is above you (no names).
OIM Resources Australia was one of those rare occasions when I was often armed with a multi
skilled team of techs including NDT, Rigging, Welding / Fabrication and Industrial painters. We
were able and often did score numerous knock on contracts because of our versatility and varied

skills base. A patch repair job on heli-deck stanchions on one occasion led to a structural survey
and subsequently deconstruct / reinstall and protective coating scope landing SSI a valuable foot
in the door. On successful completion we then went on to deconstruct and reinstall a stairwell
down one of the oil rigs legs to the spider deck level and with several landings all this 100%
completed along with the associated NDT / protective coating reinstated. To round off this simple
patch repair job we also secured an additional blasting and painting scope in the spud cans.
