About SRI-Rice
The SRI International Network and Resources Center (SRI-Rice) is based at Cornell University, and was established
in 2010 in response to the increasing importance around the world of the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) - an
agro-ecological and climate-smart methodology for growing rice.
Our Vision
To improve rice and other agricultural productivity based on environment-friendly practices that help to better
withstand changing climate conditions and that lead to improved food security and reduced poverty.
Our Mission
To advance and share knowledge about the System of Rice Intensification and its derived practices and principles,
and to support networking among interested organizations and individuals around the globe.
Core Activities
Global SRI Knowledge
Management
We maintain the largest website on SRI and
publish news, new research, technical reports, videos and photographs coming directly from the field. We also host partner
information on our website.
Global SRI Networking
Support
We help connect people and organizations, and
thus support global SRI networking. SRI-Rice is
in daily contact with SRI practitioners, researchers, program managers and interested individuals from over 50 rice-producing countries.
International SRI
Research Network
International SRI
Equipment Initiative
We’ve established and maintain the largest research database on SRI (including
Chinese and Indian research), connect
SRI researchers through the Mendeley
research forum, and collaborate with
researchers from around the world.
SRI-Rice facilitates information exchange
through the SRI Equipment Innovators Online
Discussion Forum, works directly with educational institutions and field-based groups
in weeder prototype development. SRI-Rice
maintains multimedia equipment databases,
available at www.sririce.org
Latin America and
Caribbean SRI Initiative
SRI-Rice supports a SRI Latin America
coordinator who promotes knowledge
sharing and communication in Spanish,
and facilitates testing and evaluation of
SRI practices under Latin American rice
growing conditions. SRI is involved in
introducing and testing SRI in Northern
Haiti with the iF Foundation.

West Africa SRI Initiative
SRI-Rice is the principal technical partner for
‘Improving and Scaling up the System of Rice Intensification in West Africa,’ a 13 country project
through the World Bank-funded West Africa Agricultural Productivity Program (WAAPP). SRI-Rice
facilitates an SRI West Africa online community
forum in French and English, and is training and
backstopping Peace Corps Volunteers and staff
from 7 West African countries through the West
Africa Food Security Partnership.
