2. SOCIETY 1.0 INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY
Children learned and worked at home due to the
base of economic activity was the small family
business.
At that time, children applied “ learning by doing”
through a mutual relation between adult- child.
3. The rise of the industrial economy.
Kids began to work at low-level and often dangerous
jobs until they were segregated from the workplace to
protect their welfare.
The rise of the industrialization of education.
By the end of the 20th century, the term “learning by
doing” was replaced by better jobs, better pays.
By this time, labor market competition raised.
4. SOCIETY 2.0 Knowledge
society
The appearance of Society 2.0 is associated with the
emergence of the knowledge society.
Advances in information and communications
technologies (ICTs) are being used to share new ideas
and create new tools.
5. These tools (blogs, youtube, articles, etc.) have
facilitated the raising of the formation of citizen
journalists.
Technology carry constraints and limitations that
force individuals to transform how they think and
act.
6. These transformations are leading to new questions for social
and educational theorists:
Does Society 2.0 dumb people down, or are we creating a
new, hyper-connected, social super-intelligence?
how can education remain relevant in a cut-and paste
society where information flows freely?
The aim of the ICTs is to prepare the youth and other
members of society for a future and workforce we
cannot yet imagine.
