3. Engagement Activities
Who: Pre-service teachers
What: Playing different improv games that could
improv our skills in the classroom
Where: UCP Cafeteria
When: 5 meetings
The first meeting was with a student.
The next three meetings where to play improv games.
The final meeting was with the student.
Why: To determine if improve games and skills affect
your teaching ability.
4. Participant Demographics
Working with a student who attends UCP.
To be in the school you must be identified as
an Exceptional Education student and have
an IEP.
5. Service in Action
My first interaction with my student was
completing a simple activity putting words in
alphabetical order.
6. Perceptions of Differences
Playing the improv games put me in
situations I am not used to.
I could use these feelings to relate to how
students with disabilities might feel every
day in a classroom.
7. Connections to Your Course
Completed for EEX 3241
I better understand cooperation, understanding,
and thinking on my feet.
8. Civic Engagement
When I worked with my student for the second
time putting words in alphabetical order, I felt
more prepared.
Hey, we
both get
this now!
9. Final Thoughts
Overall I accept the theory that working on
improv skills can improve your skills inside the
classroom.
It was a fun and different way of learning. I truly
enjoyed myself at each session.
