The document summarizes Earth Day activities at Luis Cernuda School in April 2011. Students visited local gardens to study plants, learn about their habitats and uses. They learned the importance of respecting plants and not littering. Activities included working in the school garden, visiting a botanical garden, and learning ways to be environmentally friendly such as reducing, reusing and recycling. Students made commitments to turn off lights and electronics when not in use, properly recycle, and bring reusable lunch containers to school to help care for the Earth.
2. We celebrate Earth day
• Visiting and studing the surrounding
gardens near our town.
• We studied plants
• We learned about their habitats.
• We learned about what they are useful
for.
• We breath fresh air and made exercise
in a clean environment
3. One of the biggest parks in our town
We learned that we have
to respect plants and don’t
throw rubbish in the
ground
9. Compromise with Earth
• At my school we are employed positive attitudes towards the Earth. We know that it is Many things that damage it and make
her sick. For it, and in order that this not It continues happening, we have to take care of it.
• We can do many things to take care of our planet. Between them we have chosen some daily routines in order that we all
follow them from house:
• TO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS: we must not leave the lights turn on if it is not necessary. Whenever we go out of a room we
will look if there is some light turn on . The same thing we will do with the CD players and computers.
• TO RECYCLE: we will be careful to separate every type of rubbish in his correspondent container
• Paper and carton: to the blue container.
• Plastic and packing: to the yellow container.
• Glasses: to the green container.
• Residues: (organic rubbish) to the dark green or gray container.
• And the batteries: to a special container of batteries, which it is possible to find in some establishments. But never in the
garbage because it contaminates very much and the fish die.
• TO BRING THE BREAKFASTS IN REUSABLE CONTAINERS:
Aluminium it is the least advisable thing because in his production it contaminates very much and then it is very difficult to
eliminate it. Because of it we can bring ours breakfasts in lunch-baskets of plastic prepared for it, with the lid joined to base
and that are easy to open. This way, only there will be necessary to wash it when we come home
and we will avoid to fill many unnecessary buckets of rubbish.
REMEMBER: TURN OFF THE LIGHTS, RECYCLE AND BRINGS YOUR
BREAKFAST IN LUNCH-BASKET.
DO NOT FORGET THAT IF WE ALL TAKE CARE OF THE EARTH, SHE
ALWAYS WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF US.
