The Human Resources of the Philippines Aside from natural resources is one of the basis of economic development. Its people is the most important resource of any country. It is important to understand how people utilize and develop natural resources based on their character, diligence, and creativity. In fact, humans serve as the “driver” of the world since the direction of it depends on them.

Health The government considers health as one of the major issues that need to be addressed. Healthy people are the wealth of a nation that is why health should be given its much deserved attention. When we speak of health, we need to know the “FERTILITY RATE”, “DEATH RATE”, and “LIFE EXPECTANCY RATE” of the Filipinos.

Birth Rate It refers to the number of infants born in a given period of time. This is expressed as the number of live births for every 1,000 population in one year. More often than not, birth rate remains high in poor countries, but in rich countries, the birth rate is low due to improved lifestyle, effective use of contraceptives, high infant morality or no. of infants that die at birth or stillborn, and less natural resources used because of less babies born.

Death Rate It refers to the total number of those who died in the total population in one particular place in one year.Sometimes, it is expressed through the number of those who died in every 1,000 population in one year. High death rate might mean lack of needed medical attention and technology in a given country. In our country, the ratio is 5.53 for every 1,000 population in 1 year acc. To an estimate in the year of 2004.

EDUCATION An educated citizenry is a nations wealth. This is precisely the reason why th government should prioritize the education of its people. Education gives the people the chance to complete in the field of labor. The Phil. has one of the highest literacy rates among Asian nations. Literacy Rate refers to the number of citizens aged ten above who knows how to read and write. It is estimated that 94.9% of Filipinos are literate. You will see a table about the literacy rate of Filipinos.
