In the context of growing demand of ICTs in everyday life, Bangladesh Government is focusing on the DIGITAL AGENDA. UNESCO has been providing support to Government of Bangladesh and NGOs to adopt ICTs as innovative approach to education. In support to Digital Bangladesh agenda, the government has prepared the Digital Bangladesh Strategies paper and in the process of preparing a master plan for ICT in Education. Priority areas for cooperation with the Government in promoting ICT in education will be teacher training, curriculum development and integration of ICTs in teaching/learning process, teaching/learning materials development, and improving the assessment system.
D.Net and British Council After School Club – British Council and Dnet has designed a new program addressing this issue which will target the student at the school level. To encourage students in learning English a rather non-traditional method has been applied. The program is called English and ICT in After School Club. It is a nine-month long experimental project initiated in collaboration with of British Council to develop attitudes and skills of secondary level students in English Language and ICT. This is an experimental project which intends to do an impact evaluation. Pre-test-Post-test Control and Experimental BRAC and British Council joint project – BRAC ADP and the British Council jointly took an initiative where adolescents will have an opportunity to learn communicative English through computers. The pilot initiative took placein Manikgonj. Initially the project is expecting that the opportunity will improve the perception of English and IT among the participants and will also bring a positive attitude towards learning English.
• Center & Trainers Selection: 10 experimental centers will be selected on the basis of computer lab facilities & 20 Trainers will be selected through test. • Training: 5 days Training will be arranged for each facilitator. • Pre-test & Post Test Conduction: Pre-test will be conducted before the start of club activities & Post-test will be conducted after completion the club activities on secondary level students focusing on English language & ICT skill. • Club Activities: Club Activities will be run for four months in each center. • Refreshment Training: 1 day Refreshment Training will be provided to each facilitator for 6 times during the club activities. • Mentoring & Monitoring: 4 times visit in each center for continuous mentoring and monitoring. • Report Preparation: A final report will be prepared according to the findings and disseminated. - See more at: file:///D:/Document%20backup/Google%20Drive/OFFICIAL/ROSCON%202013/dnet.htm#sthash.G4QbnW5e.dpuf
