ARCHITECTURE IN MEXICO
MESOAMERICAN ARCHITECTURE
               Mesoamerican architecture is
                mainly known for its pyramids.
               Teotihuacan, the Mayan cities,
                the Zapotec center, and the
                Classic Vera Cruz culture were
                the dominant civilizations during
                the Classic era.
               The Great Pyramid of Cholula in
                Teotihuacan is the world’s
                largest pyramid and monument
                ever built.
               The last Mesoamerican
                civilization was the Aztecs who
                produced some of the best
                remaining examples of pre-
                Columbian art.
COLONIAL
   Mexico's colonial history marked
    the beginning of European and
    Indigenous cultures clashing.
   Mesoamerican architecture was
    almost completely destroyed
    during this period but it opened
    up to a new form of art and
    architecture.
   Most of the colonial cities were
    built around a plaza which had a
    cathedral, law court
   During the late 1600s to 1750 in
    Mexico, one of the most popular
    architectural styles was
    Churrigueresque, or Spanish
    Baroque style.
HACIENDAS
   Haciendas were estates created under a system established in the 16th
    century, which bestowed land to nobles in exchange for military and social
    services to the Spanish crown.
   Haciendas were used for a variety of different activities including baptisms,
    weddings and celebrations.
   The Mexican revolution ended the haciendas and the lands were restored to
    the poor people.
MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY

   15 years after the end of      One of the most impressive
