This document summarizes a project to update physician contact information listed online for UF Health Cancer Center. Information was gathered from the existing physician directory, Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Many listings contained incorrect phone numbers, often listing the general Cancer Center numbers instead of the specific clinic. The errors were highlighted and notations made. Recommendations include providing marketing with new physician's prior employment to avoid outdated listings, and conducting quarterly searches of new physicians to prevent errors from accumulating. The goal is to provide accurate contact information to improve patient and family contact with physicians.

Physician Directory Project
• Information was pulled from the existing UF Health Cancer
Center Orlando Health (UFHCC-OH) Physician Directory
• Information was gathered from the Directory, Google, Bing
and Yahoo
– As of June 2016, according to ‘The eBusiness Guide’, the top
three most popular search engines were:
• Google: 1.6 Billion monthly visitors
• Bing: 400 Million monthly visitors
• Yahoo: 300 Million monthly visitors
– Note: Yahoo's top 3 results were searched
» HealthGrades.com
» Vitals.com
» Health.USNews.com

Purpose
• The purpose of the Physician Directory project is
to eliminate incorrect phone numbers, for the
practicing physicians at UF Health Cancer
Center, that are listed on the web, while being
able to give patients and their families a direct
point of contact to their physician and facility
where they are receiving care.

Impact to the Organization
• This positively impacts UF Health Cancer Center
because all incorrect phone numbers listed on
various search engines have been notated and are
able to be handled with the Marketing Department
accordingly. This project will provide patients with a
more accurate and direct point of contact with their
physicians. This also gives UFHCC-OH and its
doctors more reliability in terms of patient contact.
The project has the potential to increase patient
satisfaction by providing patients with the most up-to-
date resources.

Demographics
• For this project I researched 50
employed physicians at
UFHCC-OH, including affiliated
physicians with Orlando Health
that practice within the facility
and/or with our providers.
• Sixteen different specialties and
clinics were reviewed
throughout this process.

Findings
• General Information is listed on the directory as
321-841-1869
• UF Health Cancer Center has both 321-841-
7171 and 407-648-3800 commonly listed online
as a general reference for an operator or a direct
link to patient rooms.
• Most errors found were the Cancer Center’s
number listed instead of the direct clinic for the
physician being searched.

Notations
• Errors were highlighted in
yellow
• The most common error
found was the Cancer
Center’s number listed,
instead of the clinic’s, and
is notated in orange
– 407-648-3800
– 321-841-7171

Recommendations
• My primary recommendation for future use regarding
updates on this project would be for every new
physician hired within UF Health Cancer Center to
provide marketing and/or administration with a list of
previous places of employment. In doing so, it would
help avoid false representation of current location
and phone numbers listed on the web. A second
recommendation, after the errors found in the current
directory were properly corrected, would be for
marketing to review the newly hired physicians on a
quarterly basis and conduct the same search using
Google, Bing and Yahoo to avoid a build-up of errors.
