Family Action Plan (AFAP)-The AFAP is an Army-wide Program that allows all members of the Army, Retired Military, Family members and
Civilian Employees to identify issues of concern that impact the well being of the entire Army Family. Through this process, issues
requiring actions are prioritized, assigned to a lead agency for resolution, and an action plan is established to achieve desired change.
“You” can make a difference and be a part of this conference. Let “YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.” They are looking for Delegates to help work
the issues that are submitted, Volunteers to assist with the Conference and most of all issues…YOUR Issues.

29 November Junction City Holiday parade: Parade will start at 5:30pm down 6th Street. After the parade tree lighting at Heritage Park and
you can visit with Santa Claus.
1 December Festival of Trees: Festival of Trees week will kick off with a Ladies Holiday Preview and Fashion Show on December 1st at
1:00pm to 5:00pm. Ladies will be the first to preview the magnificent trees and enjoy an afternoon of holiday shopping from local vendors
followed by a fashion show highlighting the holiday looks from casual to gala attire. Tickets: $10. Tickets can be purchased at Manhattan

3 December Metlife Dental: Metlife Dental, will be at the Mini-Mall on Custer Hill from 1000-1300. This is a great opportunity to speak
with a representative face to face.
4 December Victory Welcome/Fort Riley Network: NOTE Date and Time change! The breakdown for the Victory Welcome & Ft Riley
Network: Victory Welcome will begin from 1245-1320 (12:45pm-1:20pm) for all new Soldiers and Family members who have arrived
after 21 Oct or if they didn’t attend the Victory Welcome on 31 Oct. There will be booths from various community agencies on and off
post. This is a great way to get some resources if you need them.

4 December Ft Riley Network will begin at 1330-1415 (1:30pm-2:12pm) for new Soldiers, BDE/BN leadership, FRSA’s, FRG LDRs. The
Network will be closed off from the Victory Welcome booths to prevent excess noise from last meeting on 31 Oct.
If you need child care for the network you’ll need to RSVP with Stacie Dumas by 1200, 22 November 2013. You can contact her at 785240-1251. Or email her your information to Stacie.r.dumas.civ@mail.mil with child’s name, parent name, Cell # and if the child has any
special needs.
5 December Ft Riley Tree Lighting Ceremony: will be at Ware Parade field on Main Post Bldg 500 Huebner Rd. Time will be at 5:30pm
6 December Bethlehem Revisited: Event takes place in Keats, Kansas 6:30pm-9pm. Come and join in the unique event that gives you a
chance to walk though history. It will be a 45 minute outdoor guided walking tour allows you to witness the dracatic and heart moving
events that led up to and followed the First Christmas! Tickets will be available Nov 18th thru Becky Willis @ ACS 785-239-4593. Tickets
will also be available Nov 22nd at Varney’s Book Store, Staples and The Manhattan Running Company. They are timed tickets meaning that
a person has to know the day and time they want to attend. You must have a ticket for this event.

13 December Santa’s Helpers Workshop: Junction City Parks and recreation Department:1pm-3pm Children can go on a shopping spree
for parents, grandparents, siblings and friends. Children will choose a gift item that isn’t complete until after they add some creativity to
it: They will complete their projects and get it wrapped for FREE before going home. Items are priced ranged from $2 to $5. Fun activity

14 December 1st Infantry Division Band Holiday Concert: 2 shows: 3pm & 7pm at C.L. Hoover Opera House FREE concert and celebrate

USO is completely functioning through volunteer work. There are only 2 paid positions in all of KS. USO is always open. You will find it all
over the world and any military family or single soldier is always welcome. The USO is a non profit charity. 98% of the money goes back to
the soldier. Every $ donated gives back a value of $ 1.50 Like them on facebook register to volunteer at usovolunteer.org The USO is always
open. Some of the things they do: serve breakfast and lunch on a workday. Lunch on weekends. twice a month no dough dinners new
soldier welcome kits, homecoming kits after deployment, united through reading (taping for deploying soldiers) operation warm start
(breakfast for family members prior to memorial services) and very many special events. The USO is always open! Everything is always
free and it can be the soldiers/families home away from home.
Operation HomeFront Holiday Toy Events: this event is for Families in need to receive toys for the Holidays. It’s open to Soldiers (E1-E6)
and their Families that have registered (ONLY one time please). You can registered through Operation Homefront FB page
https://www.facebook.com/OHKansasMissouri to participate in the event. Registration will open soon keep checking back on their
facebook page! Once all the registration slots are full, a waiting list will be created. You will be notified the location of this event for pick
up via email.
Operation North Pole Volunteers Needed: This event is on Saturday, Dec 14th 1000-1900: Sponsored by Red Cross, USO and ACS for the
children of deployed, wounded, and fallen soldiers. Help is needed in different ways. The event coordinators are looking for donations of
homemade cookies, but they need 200 dozen (yep…two thousand, four hundred cookies!). So if you are looking for an idea for something
that you can do as a coffee group, an FRG event, scout meeting or family night, baking cookies is always a good time and donating a dozen
or so of your tasty treats to this event will be greatly appreciated. They also need volunteers as elves and facilitators of activities. Games

Operation Santa Claus: collecting new toys (no stuffed animals) or money donations. Gifts will be provided to the families of our
community in need. See Flyer below for locations on and off post for drop off boxes. You will find collection boxes all over the post. Help
Soldiers and Family members in need by providing gifts for children during the Holiday season. They are accepting new, unwrapped toys
in $15 to $25 price range for children ages birth to 18. To sign up the program the Soldiers will need to contact their Chair of Command
to complete the application.

Trees for Troops: Annual Trees for Troops will soon be distributing fresh cut Christmas Trees starting in early Dec. FREE to Active Duty
military with ID card. Waiting to get a date and time for delivery. Once I get the information I’ll post in the weekly newsbreak. Keep your
eyes on the weekly newsbreak for more details.
Corvias Foundation-Scholarship & Grant applications are now available starting Nov 1st. Ten 4-year scholarships will be awarded
($50,000 scholarships). Visit their website at: http://corviasfoundation.org/ and apply! Applications must be submitted by February 13,
2014 11:59 EST.
•Applications do NOT have to live in Corvias Military housing to be eligible. Open to graduating high school seniors with a minimum 3.0
GPA at time of application.
