Standardizing Our Messy Metadata World discusses the need to standardize metadata across different domains and authorities. NISO aims to develop technical standards related to information distribution and works with 400 volunteers worldwide. Thema was launched to merge book classification standards and help eliminate confusion. NISO also received funding to develop a consensus and roadmap for a new bibliographic exchange system to improve sharing of information.
