● Bauer produces magazines and TV and radio
stations across the world.
● The publish over 300 magazines in 15 different
countries. They started with a fishing
magazines called Angling Times. However, they
very popular music magazines include Q,
Kerrang and MOJO.
Kerrang
● Kerrang is 'The worlds biggest-selling rock magazine'. They publish around
30,000 magazines weekly for customers all around the world who are
interested in the heavy rock genre.
● Kerrang always give the reader what they expect, the magazines always
follows the same codes and conventions to make sure customers will buy
the magazine again. The same with Q and MOJO which are also very
popular music magazines which customers buy weekly as they know what
they're buying.
Bauer Media
● Most there media is to inform or entertain. Magazines all focused on different
hobbies and sports but also a range of music magazine from pop to rock.
● Bauer’s print business made the greatest contribution to turnover and
generated total global revenues of EUR 1.689 billion during 2015.
My Magazine
● I believe my magazine would fit perfectly into
this institution. They're popular Q magazine is
bought within a similar market to mine,16-20
years old. They're magazine range doesn't
include a classical magazine but also they're
market share is huge making my magazine
reach people all around the world who are
interested in this genre.
IPC Media
IPC Media which is now known as TimeInc
publishes the hugely popular NME magazine.
This magazine focuses on a huge vary of artists
attracting so many different people into their
magazines.
NME
There target is aged between 16-34 and
there sales reaching 400,000 magazines
a year.
My magazine
● TimesInc don't offer a classical magazine but I don't think publishing my
magazine in this institution would be as effective as Bauer. There audience
suits a much older audience where I want mine to be quite niche.
●
However, also there magazine is quite low priced and sales increase when
the £2.60 cover charge happened on their NME magazines. My magazine is
quite high quality and I want the impression that it's a good quality like what
you expect with traditional classical music magazines.
BBC
● BBC is a monthly magazine which is published
across Britain and is popular for there
magazines,radio and TV stations.
● They focus on selling to the older generation
with magazines including 'history' and 'wildlife'
● However, they do own the hugely recognised
children/teen magazine 'Top of the Pops'.
My magazine
● This isn’t a institution for my magazine. Even
though the market is quite niche they already
own a successful classical magazine.
