- 2. Our Mission: Intelligent Threat Awareness: Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Explosive threats (CBRNE). Initial solution is DM3™ system software, the core management, monitoring and messaging to all types of threat sensors; and Defentect’s wide area gamma radiation detectors ( Gammatect™ and Gammatect Plus™). Our growth into additional threat sensors will be through partnering with and acquisition of other technology companies. Copyright © 2008 Defentect Defentect
- 5. Significant commercial applications are widely available –– medical, academic, agricultural and industrial settings: 6,000 hospitals in the US store thousands of curies of Cesium-137, a component of nuclear medicine. Cesium-137 is widely used in cancer therapy machines , hospital blood sterilizers and elsewhere as a water-soluble powder. Cobalt 60, which can also be used in dirty bombs, is widely used in food irradiation . On 2/21/08, the NRC issued a report stating, “The presence of these sizable sources in areas (hospitals) that are potentially attractive targets (for attack) is a major factor making radioactive cesium chloride such a concern to the committee.” Legal Radiological Sources Copyright © 2008 Defentect
