1. Our opening shows differences in status, class, age and many others
through different techniques we used.
2. Class and status are two very different things. To have
a high status you don’t have to be high class. This is
seen in films like ‘Ill Manors’ where the cockney drug
addicts rule the streets. Our main character has an
East End accent and clearly has the highest status in
the scene, he is always at a higher level and the ‘boss’
character, with a cockney accent, begs him to kill him.
This is seen though the up shot used and also the
various shots only showing his body parts which
highlights that he is close to the camera for example –
his hand grabbing the glass and bat in the shot.
3. The element of age in the shot also highlights
status. The young girl is immediately sat on a
lower level with the man above her and the
camera looking down on her. We had her
clutching the big teddy bear to highlight her
insecurity. Also the short amount of time she
has on camera again highlights her lack of
status in this scene.
