President, AWMI Cleveland Chapter
October 2015
The Association of Women in the Metal Industry’s Cleveland Chapter has been named the
Fastest Growing AWMI Chapter in the country, thanks to the strong support of our members!
AWMI Cleveland grew its membership 176% from 2014 with a total of 63 new members this year.
We will be proud to accept this award at our Annual Conference this November in Tucson, Arizona
on behalf of our members. AWMI Cleveland is now the second largest chapter in the country,
second only to Chicago. We believe there is still much more potential for growth.
New members who register at the Membership Drive will receive a complimentary AWMI Tervis
Tumbler. AWMI is a wonderful opportunity to network with other women and men in the metal
industries as well as meet potential suppliers, customers, mentors, or young professionals whose
future you could help mold. AWMI believes that women in similar industries can benefit them-
selves and their companies through relationships, education, mentoring, and shared knowledge.
The programs and activities of AWMI are structured to enhance member’s skills and experience,
address challenges confronting the industry, increase numbers of women in metal, and promote
career growth to the next level. The Cleveland Chapter currently has numerous educational and
fun events throughout the year. Members receive significantly reduced rates to events and we also
have “members only” free events such as the annual mill tour.
Please spread the word to your colleagues in the metal industry about our upcoming
2016 Membership Drive at Cleveland Whiskey on October 14. Don’t delay as there
are only a total of 75 spots available!

AWMI Cleveland Chapter Scholarship Program
The Scholarship Program is available to encourage and further develop the educational and
professional backgrounds as well as the career development of our members. AWMI members
are actively encouraged to participate in this program to realize this important benefit of mem-
bership.
Scholarships may be used for coursework at an accredited school, college, or university;
books; educational seminars; AWMI conference-related expenses (non-board members only);
and, with prior approval by the Chapter board, childcare or transportation costs incurred in
conjunction with educational pursuits.
In the past, our members have used their scholarships for tradeshows, industry meetings, con-
ferences, and other educational courses. The scholarship funds go towards registration for
events, airfare, hotel fees, etc. In 2014, the members who received scholarships used their
funds towards the Design 2 Part Trade Show and Fab Tech. Scholarship recipients must be
AWMI members in good standing for at least one year (defined as having paid dues for the
current and previous years) and should remain an AWMI member for at least one year after
receiving the award.
The Cleveland Chapter is offering four $500 scholarships, first-come, first-serve. If you are
interested in the Scholarship Program, please contact the Cleveland Chapter
Secretary, Mallory Schaffert, for more information.
