Quick summary of my film
A crime thriller where I and detectives have to solve
the viscous attack on my friend and the person who is
accused of the crime is wrongly mistaken for being the
attacker.
What’s going to happen in the
opening
In my opening the audience will get an immediate
view of the location and setting will my friend is
leaving school. He is then attacked and I am first to
arrive on the scene and see him. We then see him
bandaged up and recovering from the attack talking
through what he can remember to detectives and me.
He then continues to have flashbacks but they are
sketchy and this then leads him to incorrectly identify
someone else for the crime. This if the film went on
would test the boundaries of the lead detective and me
who are both involved in the case and both would have
different takes on the crime.
The genre/subgenre
The genre is a thriller with the subgenre being crime.
The film if it went on would suspend the audience
through the wrong identity plot provoked by the
sketchy details and wrong identification from the
victim.
Characters
The Attacker - A mysterious figure who we don’t catch his
face.
The Attacked - The attacked would be perceived as a
normal guy who was attacked for no apparent reason.
Me – The confused and angry friend who despite warnings
from the police continues to want to get involved in the
investigation due to his anger and fascination for crime and
criminology and the baffling nature of it
Lead detective(s) – A new detective on the block who is
inexperienced and who I feel may not be the right man for
the investigation.
Locations
Here at school as the attack place when the attacked is
leaving.
Rooms for questioning and me before I arrive to the
scene in the sixth form.
Filming could be problematic during November and
December time due to weather, building works and
fading light.
Pace
The pace at the start will be quite slow and normal as I
am seen doing some studying after school. Then once
the attack takes place it picks up as the suspect runs
away. Also flashbacks will allow for the pace to be
changed.
Influences on narrative and
characters
Since my film follows a classic crime thriller plot, there
have been some influences on both the narrative and
characters.
Narrative influences: Films and TV shows like Usual
Suspects for the interrogation and The Bill
Character influences: The Bill etc
Target audience
The target audience would be 12 to 19 year olds with an
interest in thriller films. It being a crime thriller may
put some people off in the target audience, but due to
it the plot with the attack taking place at school and it
happening to people of the same age, this may draw
people back into the idea of watching it.
