1. Information and Communication Technology in Schools (2004):
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in schools have been imbibed in the Rashtriya
Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA). The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Schools
was started in December, 2004 and reviewed in 2010 to 21 give opportunities to secondary stage
students chiefly to cultivate their capacity on ICT skills and to make them learn through the computer
aided learning process.
National Policy on ICT in School Education focuses on providing broad framework to guide and assist the
States in optimizing the use of ICT holistically in school education.
The Scheme is a major promotional agent to fill the digital differences amongst the students of different
socio economic and other geographical barriers. The Scheme makes provision of support to States/UTs
to set up computer labs on sustainable basis.
Mission To devise, catalyse, support and sustain ICT and ICT enabled activities and processes in order to
improve access, quality and efficiency in the school system
Its goal is to 1) create – a knowledge society that can utilize and harness the potentials of ICT in
education 2) promote- universal, open and free access of ict enabled tools and resources. Also,
development of quality content and professional networks of teacher and administrators who can share
, upgrade, evaluate and experiment with the potential of ict in school education by keeping in mind the
dangers and limitations of ict.3)motivate and enable- all sections of society in strenghthning the school
education process through appropriate use of ICT.
THIS policy further talk about, 1]challenges and issues in school education regarding implementation of
ict in teaching learning process.what is the Role of state/ut in competency enhancement,curriculum
development and starting of elective courses related to ict at higher education for skill development.

3] it talks about two type of ict infrastructure i.e core ICT infrastructure (hardware, software and network
and connectivity) and enabling infrastructure ( regular electricity, power backup , theft protection etc)

usage of these contents.
