On November 14th, 2012, the American College of Nutrition began its 53rd annual conference. Over the course of four days, nutrition professionals from across the country came together to discuss innovations and concerns in the field. Entitled Overfed and Undernourished: Nutritional Interventions to Prevent and Treat Chronic Disease, the gathering took place at the Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey.

2. Introduction
 On November 14th, 2012, the American College of Nutrition
began its 53rd annual conference. Over the course of four
days, nutrition professionals from across the country came
together to discuss innovations and concerns in the field.
Entitled Overfed and Undernourished: Nutritional Interventions
to Prevent and Treat Chronic Disease, the gathering took
place at the Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey.
Organizers launched the conference with a public event
presented by Lisa Ganjhu, DO, of Columbia University. Ganjhu
began the dialogue on obesity-related diseases by giving a
talk entitled "The Supersize Me Experience: Diet, Exercise &
the Metabolic Syndrome." The conference went on to include
symposia on such topics as the gut-brain connection,
overcoming weight loss resistance, and preventing diabetes
and other diseases in patients with cardiometabolic syndrome.

3. American College of Nutrition
 Additionally, the medical professionals debated whether
or not individuals should incorporate multivitamins into
their daily routines. Conference attendees had the
opportunity to earn a number of continuing medical
education credits through the American Medical
Association.
About the author: One of five optometrists who also holds
certification as a nutrition specialist, Dr. Michael Lange
completed his nutrition training through the American
