The following inspirational journey goes back to Thelma Doreen Hood (Dawn) Dudley Hood’s Mother. She was the grand-
daughter of Professor Thomas Sidney Stannard a professor of music who completed his degree in New York and sailed via the
roaring forties to immigrate Australia in 1880. He was competent in Guitar, Steel Banjo, Mandola, Banjieurine, Base and
Piano. He established the De Lux 25 piece string orchestra and in between performances was flown around Queensland by
WW1 aviation ace, Bert Hinkler tuning outback hotel pianos!
His tuition was not lost to his son, Sidney Stannard (Dudley Hood’s mother’s brother) who like his father mastered every
string instrument in vogue at the time including Piano, Saxophone and the clarinet. Sidney arguably formed Australia’s very
first Latin Band ‘The Palm Court Orchestra’ who performed on Magnetic Island in Queensland before world war11 and
during the war, entertained American Troops on R&R! He was also a Magician and a Vanquillaquist!
Originally, Dudley Hood founded the Kingwoods in 1961. Inspired by his mother and the Stannard musical background,
Dudley took up Mandolin at the age of ten. His jazz guitar tuition came later at the age of 17 with the jazz great the now late
Don Andrews. While on return on the South Coast bound steam train to his Helensburgh home from city guitar lessons,
Dudley was practicing in a carriage compartment when he was overheard by a Catholic Nun from the Helensburgh Church,
who suggested Dudley introduce himself to her piano student, Brian King and their music partnership was born!
The Kingwoods began as a duo, with Keith Burton on Tenor Saxophone then as a trio with Dudley Guitar, Brian King Piano,
and Robert Woodhill on Drums! In 1962 Terry Freckelton a base guitar player was added. plus a multi-talented Keith Leslie a
saxophonist and vocalist! Dudley produced the very first record also based on his first original composition; Titled BBQ and
along with success performing as the Kingwoods at our first permanent gigs! Performing Saturday afternoons at the Liverpool
Hotel is where Brian King met Carole Edgerton who eventually joined to become our fifth member and female vocalist and
married Brian King and often confused with America’s Carole King!
When Rhys Clark became our resident drummer and Gary King became the bass player the Kingwoods were renamed The
Executives and in 1964 the same year Patrick Aulton produced our first single record "Wander Boy" and ‚Your Bad" and
were the ice breakers for such tracks as Garry Shearson composition ‘Baby Don’t you Sometimes Baby Find that you’re on my
Mind’ was a successful follow up!

Charts in 1966 and released in America was a particular success in New York alongside the Buffalo Springs Version!
The Executives were not a typical cover band! Brian Kings blend of solid jazz and a subtle touch of Dudley’s string barouche
Brian Carole and Keith’s harmonies added to the unique dynamics! The next release ‚My Aim is to Please you Girl‛ became
a ‘big hit’ reaching number two on the charts and only topped by ‚A Whiter Shade of Pale‛ by Procal Harum! Followed by
‚Sit Down I Think I Love You‛ composed by Steven Sills of Buffalo Springs Fame became The Executives third hit on the
Various Albums were released from 1965 through to 1972 and the original release cover featured the QANTAS 707 cover
synominious with the soundtrack of' ‚Fly Through this Happening World‛ promoted our QANTAS commercial theme ‚It’s a
Happening World‛ which also became the heading title of Sunday Herald Pop music coulomb!
Following his music career Dudley designed and built an energy efficient home which won a Sun Herald House of the year
Completion in 1972 before traveling extensively in the America working and developing skills in the Movie Industry! Fast
forward to his retune to Australia where he explored his passion for creative contemporary art and now currently focused on
original screenplay development and writing!
AIRWAVES
At the dawn of the nineteenth century it is The Inventive Age of the Aeroplane and the Evolutionary Era of the Radio! Based
on inspirational true stories and characters, it relives Charles Kingsford Smith’s first Pacific flight to achieve fame and
become a world first event in radio broadcasting! American Air Ace Eddie Rickenbacker, Bert Hinkler and Jack Warner
dramatic roles are balanced by Mary Rose and Hollywood Star Jean Harlow, all woven together to the golden voice of radio
and a dramatic conclusion to the immortal voice of Dame Nellie Melba ending this modern day Greek Tragedy!

meets Nicole at a Latin dance night of 40’s entertainment! A romance blossom’s, however he must leave her for the Pacific
war front! Departing from Amberley air force base to join the warfront in his latest twin fuselage Lockheed-P-38 Lightning
fighter to fly over the remote Australian Outback Desert, his is forced to crash land due to engine failure! This is where his
journey really begins and in a flash of lightning we trace his survival beginning from his traumatic childhood and teenage
upbringing to a youthful escape from a spy network and the forces of the Aboriginal dreamtime inspiring him to survive!

gaining independence! Like the title, appropriate romantic music its theme punctuates the show taking our Television audience
throughout their journey to find the winning couple and a trip to Las Vegas!
