Volunteering Experience:
I took part in National Citizen Service (NCS) for four weeks during summer 2014. NCS is a government-backed
programme designed for young people to develop skills for work and life. I played a key role in a team project
that helped improve my local community and during the program I developed the following skills;
Confidence – I am confident in communicating my ideas and opinions, and was a key part of my NCS
team as a result
Project Management – I helped design and deliver a community project which involved a lot of
organisation and prioritising. My team raised £530 by holding a sponsored walk and selling cakes and
the money was donated to different charities e.g. Young Minds, Streetwise etc.
Teamwork – I was part of a 12-strong team on National Citizen Service. We all had specific roles, and
had to work closely together to ensure the project was a success
Commitment – I spent four weeks during the summer holidays taking part in NCS and helping my local
community. I am committed to anything I put my mind to and always work to the best of my ability
