Outstanding Eagle Scout Award
2010-‐05-‐24
There are many awards of recognition within the Boy Scout organization for those adult
individuals that exemplify the values expressed in the Scout Oath, Scout Law, and Duty to God.
One of the highest of these is the "Outstanding Eagle Scout Award". The "Outstanding Eagle
Scout Award" is presented to adult Eagle Scouts who bring great honor to the highest rank in
the Boy Scouts of America through their personal and professional contributions at the local,
state and regional levels.
This evening, I am here as a fellow Eagle Scout and representative of the Baltimore Area
Council Executive Board to present the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award to Mr. George Mader,
on behalf of the National Eagle Scout Association.
George grew up in New Jersey and joined Scouting as a cub in 1965, earning his Religious
award and Arrow of Light

As a Boy Scout, he earned his Eagle Scout with three palms>
He went to Philmont Scout Reservation in 1972>
In 1976 at the age of 18 earned his Wood Badge while in college and serving as an
Assistant SM
>
He started the first Muscular Dystrophy Troop in the United States in Toms River NJ>

He is an Eagle Scout Dad - twice over>
He is also a Major in the Civil Air Patrol and he volunteers his weekends at Broad Creek as

contributor to the future building of the Brenner Ecology Conservation Center at Broad
Creek in honor of his Father-in-Law, a Scoutmaster and Silver Beaver award recipient.
>
I am also told that George is so passionate about the OA and Broad Creek Scout Camp that
he purchased a piece of property a few yards from the Camp Saffran entrance where he is
building his home.

On behalf of the BAC and NESA, Congratulations George!>
I would like to share with you just a few of the many reasons why George was selected for this
