waysof facilitatingthe activitiesthatwere written,inordertotestdrive more adultlearning
methodologythatwouldenhance ourclasseseffectiveness.We were able toputthe mindsof
14 trainerstogetherwithvaryinglevelsof tenureandknowledge todeterminehow bestwe
coulddelivermaterialandhave itstickwiththe largestnumberof participants.

postedinour crowdaroundgroupto answerquestions,he acknowledgeall of ourresponsesand

theoryhas 4 principles,one of which,isthatadultlearnersneedtobe involvedintheirown
evaluationandplanningof whattheylearn.George allowedusaslearnerstohave this
autonomyby:choosingourbrain breaks,lettingus have conversationsaboutthe orderof class,
lettingusevaluate ourselvesandeachotherandlettingusdeliverourmultiple teachbacksina
mannerwe saw fittingbasedonourexperience asfacilitators.
George and hisco-facilitatorexpectedustoprovide “BigFish”opportunitiesonly.We were
deterredfromprovidingfeedbackthatdidnotaffectthe deliveryof aclass.Asa facilitator,you
may dislike the wayyouphrasedsomethingormaydislikethe 4-5timesin20 minutesyousaid
“so” but a classmay not notice these things,andprovidingfeedbackonthatdoesnothelpyou
workon opportunitiesthatwouldmake yourclassmore effective anditundercutsyour
confidence becauseyoufeel asthoughyou’ve donenothingcorrectly.
