IFLA ARL Webinar Series | Held online on November 02, 2022 The United Nations 2030 Agenda outlines a plan for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all. The primary goal of the Agenda, via the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is to transform the world. Since its launch in 2015, the 17 SDGs have become embedded in the research agendas of institutions of higher education. The academic library has become an eminent partner in supporting its institution achieve its SDGs ambition. This presentation, Sustainability and Research Libraries - a story from Denmark, explores Gerald Beasley’s assertion that sustainable development needs to have a stronger place in academic librarianship, and the SDGs provide an excellent framework for librarians to think about their collections, services and spaces in those terms.  Collaborating in Green Alsion project:
Green Alsion is an initiative that strives to implement the green
transition for a major public site in Alsion, and Library – Campus
Sønderborg takes part in the project to help students be engaged in
different activities and competitions, also sharing information regarding
using bicycle, energy consumption, and etc.

17. Library SDGs Certification
& CHORA 2030
 The Chora 2030 Foundation was established in 2014
with support from two big foundations in Denmark.
 The purpose is to promote the sustainable society in
Denmark by converting and disseminating knowledge
and thinking into action.
 Through help by CHORA 2030, library SDGs certification
has been developed in collaboration with the Danish
Library Association and 20 pilot libraries in Denmark.
 It is a common framework for the libraries’ SDGs and
covers the organizational, operational, and citizen-
oriented work of the libraries with the aim to strengthen
citizens' participation and empowerment.
