The Customer:
Landsdon Limited was established in 1992 and over the past decade has grown
into the UK’s largest independent distributor of floorcovering products - stocking
and distributing products from Europe’s leading manufacturers, as well as its own
domestic and contract floorcovering brands, Vanguard Carpets and CFS Carpets.
The Group’s turnover is in excess of £70 million.
The Challenge:
Landsdons’ systems consisted of a legacy domain controller and email collection
via an offsite host providing POP3 collection for all 120 users. The initial
requirements were to upgrade the Head Office systems to allow for a more
robust network setup and vitally provide a centralised email, calendar and
contacts server that would afford the security and backup that is legally required
of electronic communications.
IT Services
Icomm is proud to offer an
extensive range of leading edge
IT services designed to meet and
exceed every customer need.
There was also a longer term objective to centralise the working practices and IT
provision of the 4 remote offices to allow both control and easy administration of
all these users.

Case Study
The Solution:
After several consultations it was decided that the project would be divided into
two constituent parts; the initial Domain upgrade and Exchange server install,
and once completed the centralisation project would be discussed and ratified.
Icomm Technologies replaced the aging Domain Controller with a state of the art
Hewlett Packard Proliant Server running Windows server 2003 as its operating
system. The 40 internal staff at the Head Office site were then migrated onto this
server and all files, applications and services transferred with no user downtime.
IT Services
Icomm Technologies then installed a further Hewlett Packard Proliant Server, this

server. Outlook Web Access was enabled for the remaining users to provide a
seamless transfer over to this new way of working.
The Benefits:
“The Landsdon Group has grown quite rapidly over the last 7 years, including a
major premise move. Over this time our IT infrastructure has at times failed to
keep pace with our growth. This initial stage has given us a foundation to move
forward and now that we have an IT provider that we can trust to advise us and
provide the right solution, we can press forward with our longer term objectives.”
