1. These were my top 5 transferable skills:
Team work
Creativity
leadership
practical
Time management
1. Team work- I find that I work really well with other people in
any circumstance. It helps me see how my fellow students
learn and what their opinionsare. It makes me see that there
is not just one way of doing a task, that there is many ways
and there might be a better way of doing the task that could
benefit me. I am a people’sperson and I love communicating
with fellow classmates. I prefer when all of our ideascome
together to create a great idea or answer. Working together
in a group can help you understand how to do tasks that you
didn’t know how to do, or understand before. Team work
makes you discuss your views with other people, and if you
disagree with another person you can debate why you think
your view is right and listen to their side of the debate on why
they think their view is right. Working in groups also helps
your communicationskillswith other people.
2. Creativity- I love to think up different ways to learn how to do
2. a task. I love to learn how to do things by drawing sketches or
instructionshow to do it. For example, a mind-map. It seems
to help me remember how to do the task more than watching
and listening how to do it. An example of my creativity would
be for the stalls project, I got clay and I made a mini-figure on
how the stall would hopefullylook, to give us an idea. When I
get bored I tend to doodleon any paper that’s near me. I also
like to colour-code subjects so I know which subject is which.
Creativity can also hinder your learning experience, as you
can get distracted easily if you are not being active. In some
cases, creativity can be an obstacle if you have a creative
mind, sometimes you cannot think logically, you always have
to think of a different and in some cases, more difficult and
abstract ways of doing a task.
3. Leadership- For me, I have always had a small bit of a
leadershiptrait in me since I was young. I would alwayswant
to be ahead of the team and on sports day I would be
encouraging every team mate to do their best. As a leader
you have to take control of situationsand make decisionson
what is best for you, your company and your employees. You
have to treat everyone equal and respect others opinions.I
was appointeda leadershiprole in 6th
year. I was appointed
as prefect for the 1st
years. I had to be a link between the
students and the teachers, I had to be there to support the
first years aroundthe school and I also had to be there as a
friend and someone they could talk to if they needed help. As
a leader, you don’t want to let your team down or disappoint
them, you want to be someone they can look up to and
respect. At the same time you need to show control show
that you are the boss, but in a non-threateningmanner.
3. 4. Practical- In a way, this contradictswith creativity. Practical
means that you are concerned with actual facts and real life
and experience, not theory. Where as, creative is finding your
own way of doing tasks differently. I would say I am practical
in some aspects, but it dependson what subject I am focusing
on. If it is a science based subject or history and it is based on
facts then I would tend to take the more practical route
rather than the creative route. People see being practical as
boring, and I agree to some extent, but I would go about
either way, practical or creative as long as I get the task done
and whatever way I find suits me best. I am not good at
remembering dates and solid facts so I try to make up my
own ways of remembering them. I like doing and taking part
in practicaltasks and getting involvedin them.
5. Time management- I alwayslike to keep track of times of
when tasks are due. I am alwayson time for handingin my
assignments and I hate being late for anything. I am always
too early or bang on time for events. I have a calendarof all
the dates of when assignments are due and what time they
have to be handed in by. Ever since I was young, if I was ever
going somewhere with my parents we would always be too
early and would have to hang around for a while. For the
majority of the time, I am always aheadof my time for doing
tasks, I don’t like rushing to get an essay or an assignment
done the night before, I prefer to have the task done well in
advance.
