education and income level.
The demographics of my target audience, after asking them to fill out some questionnaires,
are as follows:
Age: 80% of my target audience are 16-18 years old,
10% are 13-15
10% are 18-21
Gender: 60% of my target audience are males, 40% female
Race: The general race of my target audience is mixed but mainly white British
Education: The majority of my target audience (80%) are aged 16-18, so this means the
education level of my target audience would be that of someone currently in sixth
form/their last years of secondary school.
Social status: The social status of my target audience seems to be mid to lower middle class.
They can afford luxuries but are still of an ‘average’ grade and status
3. Psychographics:
1 This is the study of personality, values, opinions, attitudes, interests and
lifestyles.
2 The study and grouping of people according to their attitudes and tastes,
especially for market research
The psychographics of my target audience, after talking to them and asking them to fill out
some questionnaires, are as follows:
Personality: The majority of my target audience have an ‘average’ or ‘typical’ personality. This
includes a sense of humor, care for others, adventurous, cultured, imaginative.
Opinions on music magazines: According to my results, the majority of my target audience
enjoy music magazines but can’t find one to suit their tastes exactly. They like the style and
some of the artists featured in magazines such as Q and NME but they mainly enjoy the
music and artists featured and found in Kerrang! magazine.
Interests: The general interests of my readers tend to be music related such as going to gigs,
festivals, finding old music and new bands. They also enjoy finding new styles and going to
the cinema etc.
Lifestyles: Again, the general lifestyle of my target audience is that of an ‘average’ mid to
lower middleclass person. This means that my magazine can’t be too highbrow but can still
maintain the standards of Q and NME.
Tastes: The tastes of my target audience ranged greatly but mainly focused on rock
crossovers, pop-rock and indie music.
