2. MOOC? Machine Learning?
MOOC = Massively Open Online Courses
– Ex. Coursera, Udemy, Stanford, Yale, MIT free
courses
Machine Learning
– Developing a corpus that judges user input
(student answers) for cognitive learning style and
follows the appropriate route for material selection
and presentation.
3. Why?
ACCESS!!
Increasing student to teacher ratio
Less available adequate attention to students
both exceeding and receding the average
educational trajectory.
Nearly insurmountable task for teachers to
meet the individual needs/learning styles of
each student, subject by subject
4. More specifically…
The Learner Adaptive Online Curriculum is
an interactive, experiential learning platform
for primary education as an online/home
schooling/supplemental option as a solution
for individualized primary learning that is
adaptive to the specific needs of the
user/learner, allowing for greater access to
individual potential, on the individual pace.
5. Proposed Function
Independent online K-12 curriculum that can
be completed as home schooling/tutoring
Supplemental to existing primary programs to
bridge teaching gaps and special population
needs
Potentially a global platform for primary skills
in reading, math, and science
6. Funding
Prototype and Large Scale Funding
– Venture Capital
Coursera has raised $85 million through VC
– Grants
Global Partnership for Education
National Science Foundation: Targeted Research
Gates Foundation
