Poster feedback 1) what is effective is to you? & why? Love the font, and the quotes from a review. The girl also looks extremely effective. 2) What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why? The selling point is the question 'how can they all be having the same trip?'. Makes it sound very mysterious. 3) Would you say the girl is the victim or the villain? & why? The girl looks like the villain - evil eyes and face mostly covered up 1) what is effective to you? & why? The fact that not much is revealed, but there is a clear opportunity for the viewer to find more about it due to the web link provided. Again colours and also the haunting boldness of the girls eyes, but again because she is almost completely hidden there is still a sense of mystery about it. 2) What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why? The selling point is the fact that it has a good review with 5 stars most people will automatically think that it is a good film. Also the logos and the web link makes it look very professional and that also makes the viewer believe that the film has a higher budget and it will be well filmed. 3) Would you say the girl is the victim or the villain? & why? From looking at the poster, I would say that the girl is the victim because of the way she stares straight into the camera at the viewer, this almost instantly makes the audience relate and empathize with the character. 1) what is effective to you? & why? The colours, a mixture of red and black create quite a sinister feeling and the girl in the background is creepy 2) What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why? Wanting to know the relevance of the title and to know what the girl is so scared of 3) Would you say the girl is the victim or the villain? & why? The girl is the victim, this is clear from the fear in her eyes and the way she is hiding 1) what is effective to you? & why? I think the idea of the girl hiding is the most effective part of the poster as it makes me want to know what she is hiding from and what happens to her in the film. 2) What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why? Similar to my first answer, I think the selling point is the girl hiding as it increases my interest in the film using her eyes as emotions, so the viewer can get involved, it makes me want to know what happens to her 3) Would you say the girl is the victim or the villain? & why? I would say the girl is the victim as she seems really scared and alone, it seems as she is helpless therefore she cannot be the villain
Question One: How effective is the poster to you? & why? From the feedback on my final poster, I found that the most effective part of the poster is the female model hiding in the trees. As points where made that the ‘Haunting boldness of the girls eyes..almost completely hidden, there is still a sense of mystery about it’. This therefore tells me that as a result of only showing part of the girl; mostly her face. It is almost manipulating the audiences emotions, as they can see/feel her fear, therefore making them want to watch the trailer to see ‘What she is hiding from and what happens to her in the film’. Another point which was made was the effective the colours gave the poster the ‘Mixture of red and black creates a sinister feeling’ therefore telling me that when the audience saw the poster they automatically knew that it was a horror poster as a result of the threatening/horror colours which are typical convention of horror. Therefore allowing the audience to connect with the emotions of the girl and the overall feeling of the poster. ‘The fact that not much is revealed’ as a result of the image simply creating rhetorical questions and the only text given is a ‘Quote from a review’ and the title. It means it gives the audience the opportunity to create their own storyline of the film and also they have the ‘Opportunity..to find more about it due to the web link provided’. Therefore I found that even though the information about the film is limited on the poster, this did not effect the audiences view on the film, as there were other ways for them to find out the information, by the web link and the newspaper quote. Question two: What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why? I found that there was a wide range of answers to this question, therefore showing that my poster is overall very effective, as a result of the audience liking different parts of the poster. The main selling points of the poster I found was the text side, as one of my feedbacks said that the rhetorical question makes the film ‘Sound very mysterious’ and the title of the film causes them to want ‘To know the relevance of the title’ to the film itself‘ ‘As it increases my interest in the film’ also the quote, ‘Logo and web link makes it look very professional’. All these points made, I found that they all draw the readers into wanting to watch the trailer/film as they want to find out answers. Who is the girl? What is she so afraid of? The relevance of the texted used?
Also I found that once again the audience found that the girl is an effective selling point to them as by ‘The girl hiding...it increases my interest in the film using her eyes as emotions, so the viewer can get involved’ this therefore tells me that as a result of including a teenager the same age as the audience, it increases their emotional bond. As they can link themselves to the girl, therefore the audience have the need to find out what she ‘Is so scared of’ and why this is happening to her. Question three: Would you say the girl is the victim or the villain? & why? From this question I found that most people found that they thought that the girl was the victim rather than the villain. I found that this was mainly as a result of the body language of the model ‘The fear in her eyes and the way she is hiding’ in the trees ‘Scared, alone...helpless’. As a result the audience can feel her emotions and fear by the ‘Way she stares into the camera at the viewer’. It ‘Instantly makes the audience relate and empathize with the character’ which draws them into watching the trailer and finding out what happens to her in the film. But also the way she is hiding and her body language can be presented to another viewer as her being the villain, her ‘Evil eyes’, ‘staring straight into the camera’ only part of her being shown, almost like she is watching her victims getting ready to attach. Therefore I found that the image can be represented in different ways which I wanted as it created questions to the audience about who she is.
Webpage feedback 1. what is effective to you? & why? The clarity and boldness of the writing, in particular the font and the contrast between the vibrant reds and whites against the dull browns in the background. 2) What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why?The selling point is the sense of curiosity that I get from the ambiguous background, this is because no facial features or characters are revealed, just a forest and a pair of legs which we don't know who belong to. 1) what is effective to you? & why? The font that the titles are in is very effective because it looks very scary and suspicious. The 'tell your stories' thing is also a good idea, allows the audience to be involved with the film.2) What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why?I would want to watch the trailer because of the title - it makes me curious as to what the film is going to be about. what is effective to you? & why? The font is unnerving and the legs in the background make me feel as though someone is watching her2) What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why? Once again a need to know the importance behind the title and the '18' certificate shows me that it is most likely a horror which is appealing to me because I enjoy horror films 1) what is effective to you? & why? I think the background is really effective, with the ground and leaves being shown as it creates an eerie atmosphere and the darkness with the bold and bright writing creates an appealing contrast. 2) What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why? I think the title is the selling point, 'knowing' makes you want to know the storyline and what is going to happen in the film and anxious to find out why this title was used.
Question One: How effective is the poster to you? & why? From my feedback I found that the most effective part of the webpage is the text used mainly the colour side of them. As the audience found that ‘The contrast between the vibrant reds and whites against the dull browns in the background’. Were effective as they made the text standout but did not ruin the effect of the background. As a point was made that the background made them feel like ‘The legs I the background made me feel as through someone is watching her’ therefore building an eerie atmosphere for the viewer as they want to find out who is watch them. Also the font side of the text was also effective to the audience as it has a ‘Scary and suspicious’ side to also it makes the titles have a ‘Unnerving’ feeling which adds to the whole effect of the webpage and to the horror genre, which I wanted the webpage to have. I also found that the link to ‘Tell your stories’ was effective as it ‘Allows the audience to be involved with the film’ it also adds to effect the webpage is giving and increases the audience emotions, as it makes them think about their own fears. Question two: What is the selling point that makes you want to watch the trailer? & why? I found that the main selling point of the webpage is the title as all my feedback came back as them finding the title made them ‘Curious as to what the film is going to be about’ as the title creates rhetorical questions to the audience about ‘Why this title was used’ what the storyline is? Therefore encouraging the audience to find out what is happening and why, and as a result of the film being aged at ‘18’ it tells the audience that something bad must happen and therefore the question of what. Also I found that the background was a selling point as well, as a result of the mystery and curiosity behind the villain. As the webpage shows ‘No facial features or characters are revealed, just a forest and a pair of legs’. Therefore the audience want to find out who they belong to and why this is happening.
