4. ABOUT “GTN TEXTILES LTD. ALUVA”
GTN Textiles Limited is an India-based company.
The Company is engaged in the business of manufacture and export of cotton
yarn.
Company’s plant is located at Erumathala, Aluva, Ernakulam District, Kerala.
GTN Textiles Ltd (formally GTN Industries Ltd.) Promoted by
G.T.Narayanaswamy Naidu was incorporated on August 02, 1962 in Aluva and
commissioned in 1964 for the manufacture of cotton yarn with capacity of 12000
spindles.
In 1966, the company was taken over by the present promoters; Patoudia Family.
GTN Industries Limited was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on 28th
March, 2005 under the company act, 1956 and obtained the certificate for
commencement of business on 6th April 2005.
Previously company was 100% export oriented unit but now 10% of product is
sold in domestic market also .
GTN Textiles produces yarn from cotton and almost 90% of the finished yarn is
exported.
The company is declared as an export oriented unit in March 1998.
The two third part of the finished yarn is exported mainly to Italy and Japan.

ISO 9001-2000 & 14002-2004 were implemented in GTN Textiles Ltd, Aluva in
the year 1994 and 2004 respectively.
Both these systems were integrated in the year 2006 and termed as “Quality
Environment Management Systems” (QEMS).
Employees were of 900- 950.
24 hours working plant unit.
90 % of yarn from cotton is exported.
Cotton yarn capacity in 1996 is 12000 spindles, and now it is 2,20,000 spindles.

The overall functioning of organization is in a systematic way.
Thorough inspection is done to ensure the quality of the products as well as
raw materials.
Employee absenteeism is very high.
Majority of the employees are temporary employees
Majority of the employees are suffering from respiratory problems.
GTN has made its place in the international market and it has immense
opportunities
to grow up.
Best employees’ welfare activities.
As the company is dealing with risky activity majority of the employees
are males.
At present no sufficient storage space for storing finished goods.
13. SUGGESTIONS
The concerned employees to be provided with suitable safety gadgets
to minimize respiratory problems.
Better training should be made available to employees .
The company should minimize the labour absenteeism by introducing
better schemes.
The present commitment shown by the management towards the safety
and welfare measures should be kept at the same level or at a higher
level as per the situations as it directly affect the productivity of
employees.
Recruit lady employees to less risk departments.
It would be better that workers should be given the opportunity to
participate in the management of the enterprises.
Company can also use solar equipment's to minimize the power cost.
