SF Exploratorium Trip on LinkedIn for Good InDay

  1. 1. On July 18, 100 LinkedIn employees on our Content team hosted a day at the San Francisco Exploratorium for a group of 120 at-risk youth. Our employees spent the day sharing their love of science and tech with these youth with the goal of inspiring curiosity and exploration. About this Project:
  2. 2. The Nonprofits We partnered with two amazing nonprofits to make this day a reality. Aim High works to close the opportunity gap for under-resourced middle school youth by providing them with a free summer learning program. They serve 1,600 middle school students at 15 campuses across the Bay Area. The mission of Magic Zone is to expose youth to opportunities and help them reach their potential for present and future success. This group works with students from a district with the highest population of African Americans living in SF where 25% of African Americans are living in poverty.
  3. 3. Why the SF Exploratorium? The San Francisco Exploratorium is an eye-opening, playful place to explore how the world works. The museum offers creative thought-provoking exhibits, experiences, tools and projects that ignite curiosity, encourage exploration, and lead to profound learning.
  4. 4. The Results Quotes from LinkedIn employees: “I enjoyed spending time with kids in the science adventure!! Giving always makes you feel good.” “It was awesome to hear (the kids) ask me questions about college and career. It’s great to see they are getting guidance about this.” “Amazing! When (the kids) got to an exhibit that they were interested in, talking them through how it worked was really gratifying.” “It was good to work towards having a positive impact on the broader community, fun working with these really sweet kids and fantastic to see how much fun these 5-7th graders had curiously trying/learning from every part of the museum.”
  5. 5. “The kids had such a great time exploring the museum and learning about your colleagues’ life paths.” "My buddy is funny and weird...in a good way.” "That was my favorite field trip ever!” The Results Quotes from Aim High and Magic Zone:
  6. 6. Celebrating with a giant high-five circle to end the day…
