7. WiT Awards
The annual WiT Awards are the highlight of the WiT calendar, providing an opportunity to
recognise the achievements of outstanding women & companies working in the Infotech and Life
Science industries.
The winner of each award is selected by a panel in a competitive process, with the panel’s selection
remaining confidential until the Gala Awards Dinner. This year WiT offers 9 award categories with
each sponsor given exclusive attribution for their category of choice.
Announcements, media releases & printed invitations are distributed throughout the year. The
event is a highlight of the technology industry social calendar and regularly attracts over 250
attendees. A great opportunity for sponsors to showcase their support for WiT.
Board Readiness™ Program
The Board Readiness™ program assists executive women to prepare for board participation at a
variety of levels ranging from committees and volunteer boards to non-executive directorships. At
the same time WIT is working to improve awareness of the need for increased female participation
at board level.
Program participants are equipped with the skills required to become highly effective Board
members, and are provided with the opportunity to showcase these skills to some of Queensland's
highest profile organisations.
WiT Lightbulb Networking
These social networking events were originally designed for the individual WiT Chapters. However,
with the growth of the organisation and under its charter to promote networking opportunities for
its members, it now separately promotes these events to the Life Science and Infotech chapter
members to encourage broader networks and cross fertilization via shared experiences and ideas
across the industry sectors.
Programs and Events Overview
Professional Development Workshops
Aimed at introducing a range of higher-level career-relevant skills to our stakeholders. The scope
of topics is broad and targets professionals at all levels in the sciences and technology sectors.
Typically conducted by professional trainers, while they’re not intended to be a stand-alone,
comprehensive training sessions, they provide excellent information on many aspects of career
development. Often in an interactive format, they facilitate opportunities for attendees to
interact & share experiences while learning new skills or techniques.
WiT Mentor Program
The WiT Mentor Program is a heavily subscribed initiative. Members can participate as a mentor,
mentee or both and the flexible relationship is managed using skills and talent matching systems.
This allows not only for a large variety of mentor/mentee agreements, but also for WiT to provide
a level of case management to ensure success for all participants. The program enables
successful men and women to support, guide and inspire others into and along their chosen
career pathway.
WiT Breakfast Series
The WiT Breakfast Series are held 3 times a year (ICT) and 3 times a year (Life Sciences). The
breakfasts showcase senior women in both ICT & Life Sciences. Our members and guests benefit
from the wonderful presenters and their topics as well as the networking opportunity these
events provide.
In 2015 we are already booking amazing female leaders from across the country to once again
inspire and motivate you.
8. Marketing Sponsorship
Each year WiT develops a marketing plan aimed at promoting WiT and WiT events and programs
but more importantly at developing and distributing information of importance to WiT Members.
Marketing collateral includes the WiT website, program brochures, a monthly newsletter,
invitations to events and communications via electronic marketing.
The Marketing Sponsor will provide a critical resource to enable WiT to continue to develop its
brand to the benefit of all WiT Members.
Operational Sponsorship
The WiT Operations Manager has a large and diverse role, managing all aspects of the delivery of
a range of programs and events. We believe that an investment in additional IT infrastructure
and occasional engagement of specialist staff to assist in delivery of events and programs would
allow the Operations Manager to be even more effective, hence we are seeking a sponsor to
provide critical funding for these and other operations related activities.
Programs and Events continued…
____________Single Event Sponsorship
Many of our events require a sponsor in terms of venue or catering or speaker costs. These
events can be everything from informal gatherings to our AGM.
Sponsors who work with us on single events get recognition through our reach to our members
and affiliates and through the attendees at the event itself.
These events can also be tailored to ensure that the goal of the event aligns with those of WiT
and the sponsor.
______________WiT Board Sponsorship
The WiT Board is comprised of volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Along with dedicating 2-6
hours per week to WiT, these volunteers attend WiT and allied industry events as WiT
representatives at their own cost and in their own time.
WiT Board Sponsorship will provide funds to support their activities by funding initiatives such
as training in not-for-profit governance, paying fees to attend conferences and workshops of
direct importance to WiT members and a range of other activities agreed in discussion with you.
Through this sponsorship package the Board Sponsor will contribute to growing the skills of WiT
Directors, help them expand WiT’s influence and above all be as effective as possible in
developing and implementing the WiT vision to the benefit of all WiT Members.
9. WiT is one of Queensland's most respected and active technology industry
associations and is a peak body for women in the ICT and Life Science industries.
WiT was founded in 1997 with just 10 women. In 2005 WiT launched the Life Sciences and Infotech
chapters, separate streams established to cater to the needs of the organisation’s increasingly diverse
membership. WiT also recognises and supports women working in other technology industries.
WiT aims to support, develop, recognise and promote achievements of women in ICT and Life Science
via relevant events, mentoring, programs, awards and networks and by developing a sustainable and
growing base of members, sponsors and supporters.
WiT Infotech has been formed to provide information, events and activities for members that have a
high degree of relevance to the ICT Industry.
WiT Life Sciences was formed to create a sustainable network of members, to demonstrate leadership &
best practice through the communication of independent and balanced views and to promote the
industry in general and the interests of the women working in Life Sciences.
Our Board
The WiT Board of Directors operates as a policy setting body with overall
responsibility for establishing the organisation's strategic directions,
public relations, member services & meeting financial goals.
The Board endeavours to achieve a diversity of perspectives through
Board representation from across the technology community.
