YEAR 3- Individual Project – FACE RECOGNITION: 24 weeks
Project involved development of the software that can recognize human faces by
comparing the features of each face. Software developed using MATLAB language which
perform three different stages to achieve face recognition; Face Database creation,
Features extraction, and Classification. Features extraction involved two approaches;
Eigenface and Fisherfaces algorithms, Classification stage involved two methods; K-
Nearest neighbours and distance classifier. Experiments were carried out based on two
face databases; Yale face database and AT&T face database.
YEAR 2- Group Project (2 members) – MUSIC RECOGNITION: 4 weeks
4. Project involved programming software using MATLAB language for the purpose of
Music recognition using Signal processing and Artificial Intelligence. The aim of the
program is to distinguish songs and recognize/ identify them by comparing the features
of each song on the stored database to test song. Project involved three stages; Music
database creation, feature extraction using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Classification
using K-Nearest Neighbour (kNN).
YEAR 1 –Group project (4 members)- INTELLIGENT ROBOT: 4 weeks
Project involved designing and constructing an intelligent robot that can meet the following
specifications.
To follow a straight and curved white line on the dark surface.
Be able to detect an obstacle on the line within a reasonable range.
