5. Introduction
A solar power plant is based
on the conversion of sunlight
into Electricity, Either directly
using photovoltaics (PV), or
indirectly using concentrated
solar power(CSP).
6. History
In 1839, French scientist Edmon Becquerel
discovered that light can make materials give
of electricity and the fast solar cell more or
less like today’s solar cells was invent (1914)
by U.S. engineer Russells Ohl.
Bell labs developed the first practical solar
cell in 1954.
ARCO Solar was the first company to
produce more than 1 megawatt (MW).
7. Basics Of Solar
We can use solar power for many things such as-
• Cooking
• Water heating
• Building heating
• Power generation
There are three main ways to convert energy from sun-
• Photovoltaic cells
• Solar converters
Lots of system can be set to “trace the sun” by doing this you are maximizing
the amount of efficiency you can gain from the sun.

9. Solar panel and they
work
Solar panels are designed to convert the sunlight photovoltaic rays into energy.
A solar panel is a set of photovoltaic modules connected and than mounted on a
structure.
A photovoltaic module isa connected pack of solar cells.
Each module typically has current of between 100 and 320 voltages.
Solar panel are make up of many small solar cells. Each solar cell use like to make
electricity.
The electronics in the solar cell move when under photovoltaic rays from the sun.
The moving of electrons from the first to the second creates a friction causing energy to
be make.

12. HOW COULD SOLAR
ENERGY BENEFIT US?
Solar power is a renewable source, so it wont run out.
Once you have purchased the equepment for the solar panels, there is no further
cost.
Solar power requires little maintenance.
Solar cells can last a lifetime.
Solar power is silent.
Society could save billions and trillions of dollars by using solar power.
The installation of solar pannels creates lost of jobs.
And most importantly, it will help to put planet earth on a track for a better future.
13. How much mony can we
save from solar power?
Each household could save $20,000 in twenty years.
New Zealander get around 2,000 hours of sunshine a year, meaning we get sunshine
around 25% of the year.
Every month 50-60 solar power systems appear on roofs nation-wide, in the process
creatting a $44.5 million dollar a year industry.
The cost of installing solar pannels has gone down over 80% since 2008.
Solar power is overall cheaper than utility power.
14. Solar inverters
1. Solar inverters convert the changing amount of energy comming from the
pannels into one constant stream. This is to prevent too much strain on the
appliances.There are three main sorts:-
2. Used in isolated systems where the inverter draws its energy from batteries.
3. Normally these do not interfact in any way with the power grid.
4. Grid tie inverter are designed to shut down automatically when power supply
cuts out, for safety reasons.
5. The do not provides backup power during power outs.
6. These intervals are capable of supplying energy of selected loads during a
power out.
